2021 Mazda CX-30 Premium vs 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Limited

Looking to buy one of these two. The mazda has ~55k miles on it and would be from a dealership. The subaru is from a friend that I wholeheartedly trust. Similar prices since I'm avoiding the dealership with the subaru. I'm just curious if people have any experience/thoughts on these. thanks everyone

Edit: is anyone familiar with the remote start options for the subaru?

24y I got a new 2020 civic hatchback exl when I went to college. I’m not in grad school with ~6y left before major income increase. I got rear ended and my car got totaled. I got 21k out of the insurance for it. At this point I’m not sure if I should throw in another 5k+ to buy a new car or buy a used one similar to what I had just with a less certain history.

I really loved my car for its gas mileage ~34mpg and space with the hatchback. I’ve considered Mazda 3, civic hybrid, or getting essentially the same thing again (may have to give in and get sedan since hatchbacks are harder to find).

Any thoughts on whether the upgrade to a new car is worth it or if I should buy a used one and continue to ride it out until my income increases in a handful of years. If so, any thoughts on Honda gas v hybrid v Mazda v ??? Anything is appreciated, thanks!
