Help with finding a focal point and furnishing this room!
I just don't know what to do with this room at all. At some point in the future this house will have a total renovation, new floors (lighter than this dark brown), new kitchen, bathrooms, and all of the house insulated and rewired. So for the next 3-4 years I just have to find a way to live how it is right now. During the renovation the door and window of this room may be opened up to a large opening onto the veranda, and the fireplace may move to the far wall.
But right now what is the focal point. The TV wall? The fireplace (which is in an odd place)? or the far wall with the elephant pictures? Do I need a very large frame on that wall instead as it's what you see as you come in?
Also colour wise it's a mess. Two old sofas from our old house in mustard and blue and an assortment of furniture. I've removed most of the cushions for the photo as they were also mixed colours.
It's also an issue that it is a big room and almost needs dividing. A sofa on the far wall would be too far from TV and fireplace. Help appreciated.
