Ranking all vault songs

Ranking all vault songs

Finally got around to ranking all the vault songs. #1 is not surprising at all, although I'm surprised the entirety of 1989 vault tracks aren't in my top few, for me that's always been the best vault tracks.

What are your top 5 vault tracks?

Babylon - My take

Apart from being the best out of the four songs, this is my take on what the song means:

I think this can be seen as three different situations that Taylor refers to as Babylon, or she's telling the story of the same person who's been at arm's length of Babylon but didn't know until he lost it all.

First situation she describes Babylon as someone's hometown, where you've had your best and happy memories. She paints a picture of all small town things and the joy it brings people, and suddenly he wakes up on the train with no headphones on it sort of tells me that he left it all behind to probably pursue a better job or opportunity by moving away from his small town and into a big city. In this instance she describes Babylon as the place of happiness that he had but he left it chasing bigger dreams in a bigger city, only to realise he had it all along.

Second situation she describes can be seen as a continuation of the first where he's left his hometown to chase bigger opportunities and it sounds like she's describing an entertainer (give the people what they want and keep it moving//strangers make up on your clothes//love is ic on ladder you wish to climb) and he also seems successful, given the expensive watches in his safe but wealth doesn't seem to be enough, a pretty girl catches his eye and he likes her, but again that's not enough cuz he tells other people he's single. In this case, Babylon is probably the wealth and love he already had but he still was out there searching for something better, not ready to commit to this girl.

In the verse leading up to the bridge and in the bridge, she says he's clearly unhappy, and blind to what he already has. In trying to capture some nostalgic joy (nostaliga's a mindstrick) he not just torments himself but also makes everyone around him suffer as they are made to seem like they're not enough while he tries to recreate what he used to feel. He has a girl at home who's with his child and it's holiday season, they're probably waiting for him to come home. To me, the holiday season + the family seems like the perfect blend of smalltown coziness+ love he's yearned for all along yet he's sitting in a car wondering where it all went wrong while his woman, again, is made to feel like she's not enough.

The song is about realising you are in the good times and making the most out of it instead of trying to chase a mirage that's always gonna be out of your reach.

What do you guys think? Does it convey something different for you?

Angela is a better woman than i am

I'm a few episodes after hodgins gets paralysed and my god kudos to the actor first off. As lovable as hodgins was in the first 10 ish seasons the 180 after the accident is craaazy like you really wanna tear your way into the screen and slap some sense into him.

Secondly, i understand how hodgins' entire life changed when his accident happened, it was noone's fault and there's nothing anyone could've done to prevent it. Initial hopelessness/depression is understandable but the way he treats angela is extremely cruel.

For someone who doesn't want people to see him as a victim he plays the victim card every chance he gets. This situation actually reminds me of (Grey's anatomy S12 spoilers ahead) Callie and Arizona, when arizona loses her leg in the plane crash and how it affects their relationship fatally.

The stress something like this puts on the victim and their partner is indescribable but there's only so much worse from "for better or worse" one can put up with before they realise they have some self respect.

If I were angela in s11 e13 I would've snapped, kudos to her fr.

Dr. Sweets

Dude wtaf THEY DID SWEETS SO BAD WDYM THEY KILLED HIM IN THE VERY FIRST EPISODE nooooooo😭😭😭😭

I hate Tv shows killing people for shock value. And the two major deaths in this show till now are two (imo) fan favourites, Vincent and Sweets. This is just terrible 😭😭😭

Especially with Booth coming back from jail and having an identity crisis, sweets would've been the perfect person to help him settle down into the new reality, sweets was like the son booth and bones never had 😭😭

24Y, DIY Investor. Am I being too conservative?

Risk appetite: Moderate

Horizon: 15-20 Years

App used: Groww

I started my sip 3-4 months ago and aim to remain consistent and step up annually. Any bonus i receive I aim to invest atleast 50%. By trying to diversify and make a careful portfolio I feel like I'm becoming too conservative with the way I invest.

I have a stable income, no dependents and time on my side so want to make the best of the time I've got.

Any and all suggestions are welcome (along with rationale if any, please, I'm a new investor)

First time watcher: Angela

I'm gonna preface this post by saying I like all characters in this show, they all have their own wins and vices and pretty much have a standard role to play that makes the show wholesome. And I'm a first time watcher, I'm currently in s8.

That being said, I like angela. She's funny, she's wild, she's smart, she's a good mix of sanity and unpredictability. Before she got serious with hodgins it was clear from certain scenes that she found Booth hot (like most women on the show do, not a crime) and was even free about expressing it to different characters through one liners (which mostly came off as humor, as intended).

But after angela gets married to hodgins and her best friend gets serious with Booth, there still seems to be some part of her that ~likes~ wants booth? There's already less interaction between booth and Angela in general, we don't see them having a lot of schemes together. But everytime they do talk or she talks to bones about him it mostly sort of comes off as her being interested in him? And that episode with the roller derby death where she pretends booth is her husband and gets a lil too handsy with him even though she's not that drunk.

As is i sort of feel she settled for hodgins and knows he won't leave her which is why she goes about kissing other guys (like that painter guy) and saying if she could time travel to one moment in time it would be when she was intimate with her ex husband (which I believe was supposed to come off as funny but idk seemed a lil disrespectful imo)

I'm curious, does angela come off to anyone else as being interested in booth deep down, like if she had a shot, she'd wanna be with Booth, despite hodgins and bones?

International Fof and ETFs

Hi, DIY investor here with a moderate risk appetite. I'm in my mid 20s and I've started investing in the past few months. I wanted to get some international exposure and was looking into fof but because of the sebi cap i understand most funds aren't open.

Is buying the motilal nasdaq 100 etf and holding it for the long run have the same effects as investing in the fof? (Example, lump sum of 50k in the motilal oswal nasdaq fof vs 50k in the motilal oswal nasdaq etf)

Sorry it might be a really dumb question but I'm new to this so would love some genuine clarity

How season 7 begins

Am the only one that's disappointed with the way season 7 starts? I've loved the slow burn between bones and booth, and i always thought when eventually it's time where they're on the same page it's gonna be epic and amazing and we're gonna watch them take all those steps both of them wanted to take.

I was pretty taken aback that the first time booth and bones were >! Intimate, (The night Vincent was kiIIed)!< we don't even see or hear about it. Bones is about to say something to Angela and they're interrupted and that conversation is never picked up. I guess we had to assume that they were intimate. And at the end of the season, >!Bones is pregnant!!<

And season 7 picks up 5 months later when both of them are living together, they're actually in love, in a proper relationship, and I feel like as a viewer i was denied the payoff from the slowburn I sat through for 6 seasons. Maybe atleast half a season dedicated to bringing them to where season 6 ended/season 7 began would've been so satisfying.

Am I tripping or was/is this general consensus

First time watched S1

I'm a first time watcher and I'm 4 episodes in and god Bones is just not likable at all. In the interest of making her a geek they've gone overboard with it and sort of dumbed her down on any matter that doesn't concern bones.

It's like she can't even function like a regular human, doesn't understand the most basic references, it's like the writers wanted to make her a nerd and went hard on that stereotype. And she's inconsistent in that too, some episodes she shows empathy or emotional intelligence and makes surprising observations and sometimes she's dumb as a rock.

I hope she gets better fast cuz u like the premise of the show
