How do we verify a card is at the eBay authentication hub?

I sold a card that needed to be authenticated. USPS Tracking says it was picked up. Buyer never got the card,so asked for a refund, but didn’t message me. I assumed everything was going along fine. eBay opened a case which I missed the email notification. So he got a refund, which is fine, but where’s the card. The eBay case was five days and then closed before I knew what was going on. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
