Confused between waiting for RTX 300 or just buying a Dominar 400 (budget ~3L OTR Bangalore)
I’ve been planning to buy a bike for a long time. Last year in October, I booked the RTX 300 Apache, but it has now been 7+ months and there’s still no delivery timeline. Honestly, I’m getting tired of waiting.
Thankfully, one of my close friend who moved abroad for a short period gave me his 2019 model Dominar 400 to use, am using that for the last 5–6 months. Since I’ve been riding it daily, I haven’t felt the frustration of “not having a bike” because the Dominar itself is pretty solid.
Now I’m at a crossroads.
Budget: ideally around ₹2.7L OTR, max ₹3L OTR in Bangalore.
What I like about the Dominar:
- Stability and confidence at highway speeds (120–140 feels planted)
- Power feels addictive
- I’m now used to the weight and city riding too
- Even in traffic, I’ve become fairly quick with it
What bothers me:
- Wrist strain in city rides
- Ground clearance used to be an issue with pillion on big humps
RTX 300 looked like the perfect middle ground on paper, but the endless waiting is making me reconsider.
And I want to have my own bike. So, fellow riders, should I just go for the tried-and-tested Dominar 400 with it's all new 350cc version that comes with all those extra accessories or continue waiting for RTX 300, or is there another bike in the ~₹3L OTR range that I’m completely overlooking?
(You can avoid suggesting vstorm, xpulse, xtreme250, speedt4)
Usage: mix of city + highways + occasional touring. I value stability, comfort, and fun more than outright mileage.
