Assets in the Bourne movies are fantastic villains and very well designed characters

We know Jason Bourne is an asset (the first). Highly trained, incredibly dangerous, incredibly competent in what he does....

So when the CIA calls in an asset the film doesnt need to devote any time to describing the character. We know they are highly trained, incredibly dangerous and incredibly competent in what they do

And when an asset does something cool it enhances Bournes character as well. Like in Ultimatum when Desh tricks Bourne by dropping the bag to freeze Bourne by the motorcycle, which then explodes
