How dumb is it to leave my bike outside in McGill Ghetto?

I’m moving into an apartment in the Mcgill Ghetto this year and it’s not too convenient to take it inside. I’m wondering if its a bad idea to leave it outside overnight. Obviously I would get a good lock. Its an old, low-end bike but it was expensive enough I would really prefer not to lose it. Does anyone gave experience with bike theft in the area? If so how determined are the thieves?

Help! Tuning peg broke and left pin in the headstock.

I dropped my guitar and one of the tuning machines broke. I went to replace it but I realized the pin had been jammed into the headstock and snapped off the machine. Can't put the new machine in because the old pin is still stuck in there. What should I do?
