Dog Pawing at Mouth and Chewing Everything

Hi! We recently adopted a rescue pittie mix (around 1-2Y, female) and she is an angel. The only issues we are having with her is that she really wants to chew on me and my partner. I assumed this was puppy biting that was never properly trained out of her, so we’ve been redirecting the behavior and essentially training her out of it like one would do a puppy.

However, we aren’t really seeing results. She wants to chew on our arm or our fingers, less in a playful way and more in a passive chew toy way, and if we don’t let her, she barks at us (stops quickly, but still expresses distress). I’ve also noticed that her gums bleed when she chews on some of her toys and she is often pawing at her face, which makes me wonder if it’s possible she has a medical problem? I know that I sometimes have mouth aches that feel better when I am chewing something (I feel like I am teething LOL) and didn’t know if this could occur in dogs? We’re still keeping up the training, but didn’t want to ignore what could also be a contributing medical issue.

Thoughts?

Hello! We just brought home our rescue dog a couple weeks ago (she is likely around a year old, or a little less) and I am absolutely paranoid that we will make training mistakes that foster separation anxiety.

So far, she is relatively OK. Notably, she is really clingy when we are home and whines when we leave rooms (sometimes demand barks for attention, which we try to mitigate by doing reverse time outs)

We have to leave her crated during the workday, and she seems to bark sporadically for around thirty minutes to an hour before settling down (I have a camera set up). She does display anxious signs- licking, whining, etc. Is having her “cry it out” the right move to decrease that period of barking and stress? Or will it facilitate separation anxiety and panic later on? I mostly worry because of how much of a velcro dog she seems to be!

Any and all tips welcome!
