Sako Toshio is notably a big fan of JoJo's, and he and Araki have worked together on a few collaborations alongside Usogui referencing JoJo's directly a few times (Souichi's motorcycle helmet, and developer Fujitsubo's figurines).

Therefore, it makes me think that Toshio took inspiration from JoJo's in other ways as well.

If you think about it, Usogui started in 2006, and Tatsuki was introduced around chapter 205, considering Usogui is a weekly series, that means Tatsuki was introduced around 2010.

And remember, SBR was in its final arc around 2010, so I think it's very possible that Toshio took direct inspiration from Valentine's catchphrase when creating Tatsuki.

imagine I put a red circle somewhere

we need more agenda posts on this sub for glazing the series

Shion Nowa took his wife's, Mirei's, last name instead of vice versa which would be more common in Japan.

This actually follows a cultural tradition in Japan called "Mukoyōshi", where if a prestigious family doesn't have a son who can take over the family name, the family will adopt a capable outside man who will marry the daughter of the family.

Personally, as a western reader, this went entirely over my head and I had never heard of it before, but it makes a lot of sense considering how strong the average Nowa family member is, I wish Mirei stepped on me, and this also implies that Mirei was an only child/ only had sisters.

In general, I wish we saw more of the other Nowa's outside of Mitoshi, my hope is that in the future Toshio will write some more spinoff short stories in the styles of the Yakou special, more specifically I wish we could see Mirei, Taka, Fukurou and Mitora host a Kakerou match.

In chapter 206, in Fukurou's match against Suteguma, he mentions Usogui avoiding playing poker with him.

This is in DIRECT reference, to how Usogui called Fukurou out to the Anthill building, but HAL played the game instead, which we only got to see much later in the series.

Every single time, I'm astounded by how far ahead Toshio planned this series, every single little detail is so well foreshadowed.

Bravo Toshio

How Kadokura gives his gloves to Yakou after their fight to cover up his damaged hand, it says a lot about how even though Kadokura wanted to win, he took his loss with pride and acknowledged that Yakou was the most fitting Ref to preside the gamble, even through everything he kept some sense of respect.
