Optimize clothing for a multi-month thru-hike

Looking to optimize my clothing for a multi-month thru-hike - temperatures ranging from 30°C (86°F) during the day down to 0 to -5°C (32 to 23°F) at night.

Current setup I'm considering:

  • Merino t-shirt
  • Convertible pants (zip-off shorts/longs)
  • Merino leggings (200/260 gsm)
  • Long-sleeve merino top (200/260 gsm)
  • Alpha Direct 120 gsm fleece
  • Puffy jacket
  • Rain shell
  • 2x pairs merino socks
  • Gloves
  • Beanie

I run cold, and my biggest fear is either being cold or ending the day in sweat-soaked clothes. With that in mind, can I cut anything or improve the setup?

Effeuno N3 oven - not cooking enough on the bottom

I have an Effeuno N3, 34cm, electric oven with a single top heating element.

So far we've been baking pan pizzas using the stone that came with the oven. However, we've noticed that the bottom doesn't cook as well. Are there refractory stones that radiate more heat? How can we solve this problem?

Thanks!

Another cold sleeper trying to build a sleep system. 2 Options

I'm a cold sleeper trying to build a sleep system for shoulder season:

Option A: Lighter bag + warmer liner

  • Cumulus X-Lite 400 customized with 450g of 900FP down (625g total, comfort −3°C)
  • Sea to Summit Reactor Extreme liner (390g, claimed +14°C)
  • Total: 1015g

Option B: Warmer bag + lighter liner

  • WM Versalite (905g, EN comfort −6°C)
  • Sea to Summit silk liner (140g, modest warmth boost)
  • Total: 1045g

Obviously I'll wear a puffy and other layers inside the bag if needed, but I'd really like to hear what you think about these specific products and about the bag+liner approach in general.

Adding: I have an Exped 6.5 sleeping pad and a Bonfus Middus 1 tent with solid inner.

Are there any fans of alcohol cooking systems out there?

I haven't found many discussions about it. I tested one for a night, but the slightest breath of wind would put it out despite using a windscreen, and it took almost 10 minutes and 25/30 ml of fuel to boil half a liter of water, even with temperatures between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius.

It seems really inefficient to me. Any opinions in favor?
