Hilux DPF Advice
2 months ago I got a message on the dash saying "DPF Full - See Owners Manual".
Took it straight to the mechanic, they did a force regen and sent us on our way.
Exactly a week later, same dash message so took it back again, they replaced some filters, did another force regen and tested a bunch of stuff and it all looked good to go.
Then again, another week later same thing, and checked again at mechanic seemed to be all good.
Then this weekend past, same dash message again.
A mate recommened to do a DPF delete, because a replacement or cleaning of the DPF doesn't guarantee the issue won't persist.
I took it to the place today and they did a diagnostic, ash load checked, diff pressure sensor and hoses tested, EGR inspected, injector balance rates checked, and all came back fine. They compared with my mechanic and they're pulling the same resulsts.
They assessed for clearning and it wasn't blocked or full of soot/ash at all.
What do people recommend? Just do the delete and ECU tune? Or try to do the clean/replacment?
I have no intention of selling the car, it is purely a work vehicle. (just hit 210kms)
Been doing work trips out to Glengarry and still getting DPF full even though heaps of highway driving has been done to run to temp.
My only concern is with insurance cover? Is it something to worry about?
Understandably the car will be roadworthy, but will it ever be noticed?
Apparently they would do a "modiciation" and make it look like the DPF is still there but just remove the internals.
Do I have to declare with the insurance about the ECU tune?
Say I'm ever in an accident, will they deny a claim becausre there is no DPF?
Just want to get all the information so I'm aware of all options.
Appreciate your help!
