Is brass poising from a metal mouthpiece an actual concern?
I have a vintage metal otto link which I've been playing for a about a year and a half. It turns all of my reed green, and also leaves a slightly metalic taste after playing. This is because the plating is scratched and it needs a replating, problem is I can't find anyone who does them. I have recently read that this "cupric accetate" that is causing the green stuff and taste is actually poisonous, but should be manageable in some doses. However I consume this stuff nearly daily, and I want my liver damage to be caused by alcohol not this, is this a concern? I've seen people who say that the doses from the mouthpiece aren't harmful, but I want to make sure I can keep playing it while looking for someone who does replating, which might take a few months.
