Do you think fragrance lovers have heightened sense of smell?

I’ve been thinking about this lately because I’ve always noticed smells more than most people around me. Not just perfume, but also food, laundry detergent, bookstores, someone walking past wearing cologne, even the way different seasons smell outside. I got into fragrances a few years ago and now I notice notes in perfumes way faster than I used to. My friend wore Oud Maracuja by Maison Crivelli the other day, which is my signature scent, and it made me realize how much attention I naturally pay to scents during the day. It was giving me a comforting vibe and I don’t even know why. Maybe we notice smells more than average people do. I’ve also tried EM5 Passion Wood, which is inspired by Oud Maracuja by Maison Crivelli. Do you think fragrance people are naturally more sensitive to smells, or do we just train ourselves into it over time?

What perfumes have you resisted buying recently?

I’ve been trying to stop myself from buying every fragrance that gets hyped online. Recently I skipped Prada Luna Rossa Carbon By Prada even though I know I’d probably like it. I already have enough fresh everyday scents and I couldn’t justify another bottle that fills the same role. I also passed on Versace Crystal Noir by Versace after testing it at a store. It smelled good, but not “buy immediately” good. A few months ago I would’ve blind bought both without thinking twice. Now I try to wait a week before buying anything, and most of the time the urge disappears. What’s a fragrance you liked but still decided not to buy?

For which perfume do you think the internet would completely lose it if it ever got discontinued?

For me, it’s definitely Dior Poison. Not even because it’s the most wearable thing today, but because so many people have some history with it. It’s one of those perfumes that survives every trend cycle somehow. Every time someone talks about “classic fragrances that still stand out,” Poison gets mentioned. I’ve also noticed people who normally hate strong perfumes still respect it because it actually has personality. If Dior ever announced it was gone, I genuinely think the internet would melt down for weeks arguing about reformulations, backups, and alternatives. What fragrance do you think would cause the biggest online meltdown if it discontinued tomorrow?
