Loud startup noise AND shaking. Any red flag? (2021 Limited 75k miles)
Hey everyone, I’m looking at buying a used 2021 Crosstrek Limited at the dealership. It currently has ~75k miles on it. When I start it up, the engine is pretty loud. I know this can be normal for the high-idle cold start on these Boxers, but I've never driven a Subaru before, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect. The main issue is that the car is also noticeably shaking, it's more than just a slight vibration. However, once I'm actually driving it, everything feels completely normal with no weird noises. Looking closer at the CARFAX service history, there are a couple of notable repairs that might be related to engine shaking or rough idling:
- At 54k miles (Jan 2024): The fuel line/hose was replaced AND the intake manifold gasket(s) were replaced.
- At 72k miles (Dec 2025): The battery was replaced.
I've attached a video of the startup down below so you can help me see if this sounds/looks normal or if it is problematic. Any advice is really appreciated!
