I’d really like to know what the BC Conservatives plan to do with rent control if they win.

Last election, John Rustad was pretty open about where he wanted to go. He said he wouldn’t remove rent control right away because the rental market was too tight, but once vacancy rates improved, he wanted to look at getting rid of it.

That should be a massive red flag for renters in Metro Vancouver.

A lot of people are only able to stay in their homes because annual increases are capped. If those protections disappear, plenty of landlords would have every incentive to push long-term tenants toward current market rents.

Now we have a new Conservative leader, a new election, and a lot of talk about cutting taxes and red tape for housing.

But where is the clear promise to renters?

Do they still want rent control gone once they think the market can handle it?

Will they keep the current annual rent cap for the full term?

Because after what they proposed last time, silence on this is not reassuring.

I find the fact that this person held such a high position in the party demonstrates at the very least terrible judgement by the party and is important information for voters.

That’s all I keep telling everybody: once you get government, who cares? I don’t care about, like, saving the province and all that shit. Like, saving the province is only secondary to what the main prize is.
The main prize right now is to get government. Once we get government, you can do what the fuck you want.

So, like, one time— that shouldn’t be in politics—one time, if I remember, he told me that, then I’m just like, what the fuck is this shit.

Almost every day both my wife and I are getting phone calls from Rogers/Fido telemarketers. Both of our numbers are on the do not call list which does absolutely nothing and we have requested that they remove our numbers from the call list every time they call.
Is there any penalty that we can impose on these telemarketers for this continual daily harassment?

Now that the air miles program has become Blue Rewards. I’m wondering if the actual purchase power of the new system has just been devalued.
Under air miles nighty air miles would be equivalent of $10 at least at some gas stations. Now that same $10 is 1500 blue points.
We’ll see what the actual value of this new scheme is or if it’s just another version of shrinkflation.

You know when you call some big business and you reach an automated reception system. Have you ever not had the voice tell you that “the call volume is higher than normal “. If it is higher than normal all the time when does the higher call volume become normal.
Maybe the high call volume should indicate that the cheap a$$holes should hire more people to answer the phones
