Announcement 📣 Masters Advice required from people in Germany

Hello, my friend is planning to pursue a Master’s in User Experience / Product Design / Human computer interaction / Interaction Design in Germany, probably for the Jan 2027 intake.

A little about her background:

my_qualifications

• Completed Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering in 2025

• Did a 3-month internship in UI/UX

• Worked full-time at a company for around 6 months (left due to some issues)

• Currently doing another UI/UX internship for the last 2 months, which may convert into full-time

• Had projects, a portfolio, extracurriculars, and design experience overall

I wanted some honest guidance from people already studying or working in Germany in this field.

My questions:

  1. Which are some good universities for UX / Product Design / Interaction Design in Germany?

  2. Since affordability is one of my biggest reasons for choosing Germany, how difficult is it financially for international students even in public universities?

  3. Is Germany still a good option for this field considering the current job market?

  4. Will my internships and work experience help during admissions or later while finding jobs/internships in Germany?

  5. What should I start doing right now to improve my chances for public universities?

  6. What are some common struggles international students face there — especially in UX/design-related fields?

  7. How important is knowing German for UX jobs specifically?

  8. Which cities are better for UX/product design opportunities and industry exposure?

  9. Are there any universities known for stronger industry connections, internships, or placements in UX/product design?

  10. Would you recommend gaining more work experience in India before applying, or applying directly in 2027 is fine?

Also, if anyone here has gone through a similar path from engineering → UI/UX → Germany masters, I’d genuinely love to hear about your experience and any advice you wish you knew earlier.

Thank you 😄

About exactly a month back I gave my MDI interview where they grilled me a lot (check post). Today I received the mail that I have converted IB, HRM and BFSI and I feel overwhelmed. I cannot stop thanking people around me who have supported me being it my mother, sister, girl friend and even my colleagues. I want to thank MDI alumni who helped in the preparation and I finally feel like I deserved this after 2 years of prep. Converting as a GEM with a shit profile of 9/6/8 and 95 percentile meant I had to ace my gdpi process. I had to give it my all and I couldn’t be happier.

I would be happy to know about batch sizes, joining dates and loan process if there are other people in the same boat. I also wanted to know more about IB if any MDI alum could share
