The Milky Way at the Kuwohi Overlook.(7-4-2026)
After spending several nights exploring the Great Smoky Mountains, I finally made it to the top of Kuwohi to photograph the Milky Way at night. Watching the stars stretch across the sky from the highest point in the Smokies was something I’ll never forget. It was one of those rare moments where you put the camera down for a minute just to take it all in.
I also wanted to thank everyone in Gatlinburg. From the people I met around town to the locals I talked with during my stay, everyone made me feel welcome. The hospitality here is just as memorable as the scenery, and it made this trip even more special.
As a landscape and night photographer, this area has been an absolute dream to photograph. I hope this image captures even a small part of what it feels like to stand on that mountaintop beneath a sky full of stars.
Thanks again, Gatlinburg. I’ll definitely be back.
If anyone has favorite spots in the Smokies for astrophotography or sunrise photography, I’d love to hear your recommendations for my next visit.
