Regretting my M.A. at DU (SDC)

Hey everyone, I really need to vent because I’m genuinely reaching a breaking point and feeling trapped in my own head. I am currently doing my Master's at DU (South Campus), and it has been a massive disappointment. SDC feels completely dead compared to North Campus—there are no proper seminars or events, and the classrooms are so ridiculously small that there’s barely enough space to sit. On top of that, the curriculum feels so dry and irrelevant.... important topics have been stripped away and replaced .. that give me zero motivation to read. I actually gave up my seat at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) for this and I regret that decision every single day.

What makes it ten times worse is surviving here with high-level social anxiety. The classroom atmosphere is extremely hostile—teachers constantly pinpoint students in front of everyone, and my classmates are super rude, egoistic, and unwelcoming. I have zero friends here. I just feel completely isolated and depressed. I don't even know how I'll spend two years like this. Is anyone else in DU pg feeling this level of burnout and isolation or knows how to survive this without losing their mind?????????

Can I cancel my admission withdrawal request at JMI after it's been processed? Need advice!

I recently submitted an application for admission withdrawal at Jamia Millia Islamia. In my withdrawal application...I had mentioned that I got admission at Delhi University (DU) and that the travel distance to JMI was too long for me.

The application has already been processed and stamped by the office. They told me that the fee refund will take a few days and I can collect my documents soon.

However.. after reconsidering.. I want to cancel my withdrawal and continue my studies at JMI.

Is there any chance JMI will allow me to cancel the withdrawal application at this stage?

Has anyone successfully cancelled their withdrawal after giving a reason like getting admission elsewhere?

Whom should I approach immediately (HOD, Dean, or Registrar Office) to explain my situation????

Any help or experience shared would be really grateful ! Thanks!

Got admission in JMI MA History through Spot Round – Need info regarding classes & WhatsApp

I recently got admission to JMI M.A. History through the spot round (earlier I was enrolled in DU SDC...but now I’m switching to JMI). Since classes have already started, I’m completely out of the loop and have no clue about the schedule or classroom details.

Could anyone from M.A. History please let me know:

  1. Where are the classes currently being held????

  2. Is there any official or unofficial student WhatsApp group for our batch?????

If anyone is in the same course, please drop a comment or DM me. It would be a huge help!!!!!!! Thanks in advance!!!!!!

DU SDC vs JMI for M.A. History–Need guidance! (Spot Round Dilemma)

I really need some genuine guidance and realistic perspectives from seniors, current students, or alumni of both DU and Jamia Millia Islamia.

Here is my situation-

I recently took admission in DU South Delhi Campus for M.A. History. I know DU faculty and academic exposure are top-tier.... but JMI has opened its spot round and I have a chance to get a seat there for M.A. History.

To be completely honest....I didn't take admission in JMI during the earlier rounds because a lot of people told me that it might not be safe or that I wouldn't be able to adjust easily as a other community girl student. Those opinions made me hesitate.... But now that the spot round is open....I’m reconsidering because I’ve always heard great things about Jamia's history department and academic environment......

I’d love to know....Is JMI actually better than DU SDC for M.A. History....and how is the campus environment & safety for a Hindu girl student in reality?

Please share your honest experiences and advice....it will help me clear my doubts and make a final decision.... :-)
