Windshield wiper recommendations?
BZ wipers getting loud and squeaky. Any recommendations for super quiet good quality wiper blades? I hear silicone wipers are superior.

Our 7 year old has underlying conditions which requires genetic testing for the child and parent. We have seen a genetic counselor at the local in-network Children's hospital and they recommended (whole genome) genetic testing via Variantyx - apparently the only lab in the country that does this testing. Hospital tried to get testing approved but it was denied (we don't know exact reason yet). In any case Variantyx is an out of network lab for us so we could potentially face upwards of 7K to meet our out of network out of pocket max.
However Variantyx coordinator has been telling us that "you will have zero out of pocket cost...don't worry". They say that even in the event of the denial they will pick up the cost and we will owe nothing. They have a process where if denied, they will appeal claim on our behalf and if it's rejected the patient will still owe nothing.
I do not understand this model and asked her who will be paying them but she didn't seem to have a good answer. She sent me the following message and continues to assure me that we will not get a bill from them.
"We discussed $0 Out-Of-Pocket cost for the testing regardless of approval or denial. If denied we may appeal on your behalf however we will contact you first to obtain signature on the appeal form".
What can I do here to cover my basis before this test? I know there EOB charges to insurance can be over 20k. I just want to protect myself in case they try to charge us later for any reason.
We've had the same Anthem family plan through employer for years. This year they have removed so many providers and hospitals that we've been going to for years (all Anthem in network), it's shocking. Also we've seen so many AI or auto denials since start of the year... Many of them we're fighting as they are frivolous but it takes so much time and effort that we feel like just paying the bill ourselves than navigating their crazy phone trees.. What's going on and are others experiencing these types of rapid changes and degradation of benefit access ?
We have Anthem. Going to an in network hospital for an expensive brain scan for our son. As per Neuro order he needs anesthesia. I have called the hospital to check if they have obtained a pre-authorization or pre-approval from insurance and they are telling me one is not needed. Then I ask about the Anesthesia and they told me it was a third party and they may or may not be in network. Called the third party and they were not helpful and told me they just bill insurance based on the procedure and its ultimately patient responsibility if insurance doesn't pay.
We're feeling very insecure about insurance going into this procedure and after hours of phone calls being routed around still don't know what billing surprises await us post procedure.
Anything more I can do? I feel so exhausted doing all this legwork but have been screwed over so many times by health insurance. Should I call Anthem via Accolade (who are beyond awful) and have them verify if anything is missing here. Again the facility is in network at a very large hospital but Anesthesiologist is likely not. Wife thinks I am nuts for doing all this research when we're in network and have "good" insurance.
We have Anthem family plan ppo through employer. We've had this plan for many years. This year they have started using Accolade for benefits coordination.. so when you call the 800 number on the card you get Accolade and not Anthem.

Accolade seems incompetent and lost and frequently can't access what i can see on the Anthem website. They have given us incorrect information a few times in the past. No way to reach Anthem as when we call them they refer us to Accolade.

Our plan has a deductible for the family which we have met. Then an out of pocket max for each individual and one oopm for the entire family. My understanding has been that when one person on the plan reaches their individual oopm they don't need to pay any coinsurance. Well Accolade says that even though based on Anthem website my son met his oopm individually, we will keep paying co insurance for him till the 7k family oopm is met. This seems really strange.

Ant tips or guidance as to what i can do?

I am completing a form in which several references are made to where I file my taxes, SS number etc. Several years on LTD but they have not requested tax information. They are already offsetting my SSDI. Has anyone else had ltd request their tax records or can they access direct from IRS? Assuming to do the latter they will need a special form authorization from me not just the standard Disclosure Authorization which seems to be for medical records only. Any feedback appreciated.
New LTD form has this question. Seems like a somewhat gotcha question. Several years on LTD cannot work, assuming it is safe to say NO as I am fully disabled? Has anyone seen this one before?
LTD just sent me a "supplemental claim disability benefits" form . Unlike previous forms they have requested Social Security numbers of my entire family including dependent kids and my spouse who is not a dependent. In the 3 years on LTD there has been no form where they requested SS numbers for entire family...just names and DoB. Is this common and did you need to provide this information at some point?
On my driveway with a very slight incline, it seems some days the automatic parking brake keeps engaged even when I am in Reverse mode. Need to hit throttle to get it to reverse. Happens 50 percent of the time... Feels a bit weird as it's inconsistent in exactly the same conditions. What could be causing this?
I have eco mode always on (2024) but one pedal regen button off as I find the braking too aggressive. I feel that Eco mode on does some sort of lighter regen type braking in stop and go conditions. Is this correct or am i experiencing something else?
2024 bz4x fwd. Our first electric and we did buy it used for around 20k out the door. Had a lot of initial regrets mainly Tesla and BZ 2026 envy but now learned to appreciate the car especially build quality, comfort and safety. Spent too much time listening to reviews crapping on the 4x and praising tesla , ioniq and 2026 bz.
Getting level 2 charger at home made a huge difference, so convenient. We have two other lexus / Toyota vehicles but drive the BZ far more now. However there is no way I would keep the BZ or any electric car as a primary or only car at this point especially for road tripping.
Switching to new Michelin defenders has made the drive so much better and more smoother.
We will be keeping the car for at least 8 years and got a Toyota Platinum 10 year 125 k warranty at a steal of a price
Insurance cost is so much better and cheaper than tesla.
Made is Japan quality...feel the weight and quality of the doors, fit and finish.
I challenge anyone to find a better value on a newer used low mileage electric for the price/ quality value proposition. We're very happy.
With so many great deals on used 2026s (some going in the mid to late 20s with under 10k miles), I am having a bit of buyers remorse / regret having recently purchased a 2024.
The 2024 fits my needs and I know that's what matters most but there is just a plethora of reviews saying the 2026 is just light-years improved from the first gen. Friends tell me the same thing saying I could have waited a bit , paid 5-7k extra for a 2026. So a bit regretful but dealing with it.
Is the 2026 a true next generation BZ that gets closer to Model Y territory? Are we potentially going to see solid state batteries and 400 miles plus range from Toyota in 2027 or 2028? Seems EV tech moves so much faster than ICE or Hybrid tech.
Has anyone used PPF or ceramic coating on the most vulnerable areas like front bumper and hood? How much did it cost and has it been effective? Any PPF brand that you would recommend? Don't want to spend a fortune but last car was a Lexus RX with the softer pearl paint that got absolutely ruined by rock chips. Any tips and suggestions welcome.
Any recommendations on the type and length of usb cable you used to connect phone for Android Auto or Apple car play? Assuming a short USB 3.0 high speed type A to C cable should work? Another question: if you have a wire connected in the center console where do you put your phone, if you place it in the charging compartment will it start QI charging even with a wired connection?
Ps: i know i can connect wirelessly but phone gets very hot and connection quality is a hit or miss and not consistent.
Great price on the original Toyota VSA contract for my FWD BZ4x. I saved about 1500 over what the local stealership wanted and later when i went back to them to see if they would match, they said Troy's price was too low to match. Awesome guy and very responsive. Thanks to everyone here and on other Toyota sites for recommending him and Jerry. Both were charging me the same low price for the 125k 10 years platinum coverage.
Why the warranty? I have owned multiple Toyota and Lexus vehicles over my life. I track expenses on a spreadsheet. Even though these are super reliable machines, I have ended up spending on some major repairs typically in years 7-9 of ownership. Also my personal experience has been that having a Toyota backed warranty is helpful for vehicle resale and a buyer like myself would be drawn to a car which still has warranty remaining on it. Just for trivia my Camry and Prius were pretty bulletproof however the Lexus RX and LS did need a lot of repairs as they aged.
I am hopeful that i can drive this awesome BZ4x for many years to come and hopefully hand it down to my son in a few years.
I couldn't find much owner data on acceleration for the gen 1 FWD models. I have a 2024 and it feels pretty quick. Based on some reviews these do 0-60 mph in 7.9-8.1 seconds? Feels much faster... Prior had a lexus RX sport and this BZ seems quicker. Anyone timed it?
OEM Bridgestones are nearly gone at 20k miles. Considering Costco tires, Michelins are on sale. Any experience with the Defenders or Crossclimate 2s? I know there will be some range loss due to worse rolling resistance than OEM but I prefer a quieter, more comfortable, less harsh ride. Any other tire suggestions are also welcome.
I am liking my 2024 BZ4X. It's my first electric car and we've been a Toyota/Lexus household. We were not in favor of getting a Tesla and not a big fan of Hyundai/ KIA quality. I like that this is a Toyota and I can trust the hardware and overall quality.
However I am feeling that even having paid half of what the car retailed for, the resale value will plummet at an insane rate.
I will likely keep the car for at least 8 years.. the speed at which tech on EVs is changing is crazy, considering that Gen 1 BZs from only 2 years ago are already semi redundant and outdated. Will the falling prices stabilize at some point or can we expect these to go for 5-10k USD in a couple years or sooner? Teslas and Hyundai seem to hit a price floor quickly and then stabilize but don't know what pattern the BZ will follow. Thoughts?
