POCO X8 Pro Max IP69K issue — How to handle service center warranty rejection & company claims?

Need advice from people who dealt with phone service centers and warranty claims.

My POCO x8 pro max developed water vapour inside the cameras after a very brief accidental drop into clean still water, despite being marketed with IP69K protection. The phone is only 2 months old, has no major physical damage, and is still working.

I’m worried the service center may instantly blame me and reject everything as “liquid damage” without properly considering a possible sealing/QC defect.

People who faced similar situations:

What should I say and avoid saying at the service center?

What tricks or claims do companies/service centers usually use in these cases?

What documents or proof should I collect?

Has anyone successfully received goodwill repair/replacement in a similar case?

I want to handle this properly and fairly before proceeding further.

“POCO phone with IP69K rating got water vapour inside cameras after a few seconds in clean water — anyone else faced this?

My POCO X8 Pro Max is only 2 months old and is advertised with IP69K water resistance (up to 2m for 30 mins). A few days ago, it accidentally fell into a bucket of clean still water for just a few seconds. I immediately took it out.

After some time, water vapour/condensation started appearing inside both the front and rear cameras. The top speaker also became slightly muffled initially. The phone itself is still working perfectly and has no major physical damage.

What confuses me is that IP69K is marketed as being able to withstand even high-pressure water exposure, yet my device showed internal moisture from such a minor accidental exposure.

This makes me wonder:

- Has anyone else faced this issue with POCO/Xiaomi devices?

- Could this be a sealing or QC defect?

- Did the service center help or simply reject it as “water damage”?

I’m posting this to understand whether this is an isolated issue or something more users are facing. I’ll also update this post after visiting the official service center.
