Question regarding manufacturer minimum barrel lengths
I'm very new to the suppressor world. I just bought the PTR Vent 1 and 2 for my multi-caliber line up (9mm, 300BLK, and .308).
I have a 6.5" and a 10.5" 300BLK. Reading on PTR's website, for the Vent 2, they recommended barrel length of 8"+ for 300BLK (subs only of course).
My question is: as far as barrel lengths go, are those firm? Or more like a legal "CYA"?
Anyone run shorter barrels than what the manufacturer recommended? I'll take the good and bad.
I'm just wondering if a half of an inch will really be a risk? Especially if I'm not mag dumping with an FRT, and running exclusively subs or if my 6.5".
The Vent 2 has that sweet 1.5" diameter that will tuck really nicely - Vent 1 is a beefier boi at 1.75", hard to find suppressor tuckable handguard (all seem to stop around 1.74" - just a smidge too thick).
Any insight would be appreciated.
