Opinion: Avatar Suits is the Greatest Update to Duolingo in Years

I have found the addition of avatar suits to be the most effective and least invasive update from Duolingo in a long, long time. For younger users like myself (fifteenish) gamification is important for holding engagement. I have a nearly two year streak, I'm a Super Duolingo User. I primarily did one lesson per day, occasionally two. Obviously this is not enough to learn a language. You need dedication. The avatar suits have gotten me to do three lessons per day (and sometimes more) because they push me to do my quests so I get quest points in order to unlock the next suit. I feel that since these are free except for the ones you can pay for this really is not a bad idea and it is not invasive or harmful to the end user. As a shareholder who was stupid enough to buy back into the stock after having sold it near its all time high, I find this to be the exact kind of thing Duolingo needs to be doing more of. If ya'll want more DAUs, try to keep some of them!

My agent really impressed me the other day

So the other day, I was messing around with my Hermes agent, and I was having it code a raycasting shooter game. It had finished the maps and mechanics, but since I was using a language model, the art was terrible. So I asked Hermes to use an image gen model from my API provider to make some images. I then watched as it indicated that it wanted to save me money, (I have never prompted it to be brief or anything) and it spent some time doing research and found a free API with no key required that allowed for image generation, and it generated images through that. Man, am I glad I left Openclaw.

Crumbling Cave: A level where everything is crumbling around you!

I just released a level called Crumbling Cave, it’s part of my super world. The level begins in an overworld but then transitions to a cave underground where the ceiling is crumbling! Maybe some coins will fall too though…

Find out at 6P9-687-Y9G!

Also please consider giving the level I like, I’m trying to get a medal so I can get an outfit! Also please consider trying out my other Super World levels!

Introducing the World’s Longest Speedrun!

I just released a super intense Speedrun! At its fastest it can be cleared in about three and a half minutes. The level contains an over world and a sub world, and it is super expert difficult. If you think you’re good at speed runs, prove it here: B1Q-6NJ-FCG

I’m hoping to get this level in the popular area! I’ve never done that before. If you enjoy the level, please don’t forget to leave a like. Thanks!

Hi all, with all the buzz going on right now about agentic AI (OpenClaw, Claude Code, Hermes Agent, etc.) what agentic focused models have you tried using on Raspberry Pis? I'm on a Pi 5 with eight gigs. I've tried using the smallest available Gemma 4, and that thing is still as slow as a snail! Yes, I know the Pi isn't an AI PC, but surely there must be some agentic model that works. Anyone?

I'm sorry.

I've touted the greatness of openclaw for a while here.

...Then Hermes fixed the glitch I faced when I first tried using it. It's better, a lot better. Now, this does of course depend on your goals, but Hermes does not need to constantly be prodded along to work on something, it just keeps working.

Also it's safer than OpenClaw.

Those are my thoughts.

Before I go into this, I wanna say that I am not trying to offend anybody who makes refreshing levels or minigame levels. I am just stating my opinion here, and I am sorry if you find it offensive.

I've been playing Mario Maker Two since the day it came out. I remember one of the first times I ever scrolled through the user made levels, I found an awesome table tennis level. I was so impressed that someone had figured out how to do that In Mario Maker. Not long after I discovered Raulphus' Mario Goes to The Cinema levels, and I saw helfegan's functional calculator created within the game. There have of course been a plethora of phenomenal traditional levels, including the port of Super Mario Brothers 2 (by Mr. Elliot I think?) While I'm not a huge fan of speedruns, I still found myself playing a few, and I did enjoy them, even if I couldn't beat them. There have been amazing showcases of music within levels, along with the numerous Uno Mas levels (until nintendo started nuking those). All in all, SMM2 was a very creative place with tons of fun and unique levels. Then I started seeing "refreshing" levels pop up. Then the "Please Like My Levels So I Can Get #1 Weekly" levels. Then the comics. I feel that these levels through there occasional runs to the popular section have degraded SMM2 from a place where creative, fun, and original levels are coming out every day into a place where everyone is just trying to get a few likes on their levels by creating levels that are nearly indistinguishable from each other. I don't know how this can be fixed or if there is a fix. I just feel that something needs to be said, because this game used to have an awesome community, but many of its top creators have abandoned the game. With no SMM3 in sight for a while, I feel that Mario Maker 2 needs to see a rebirth in unique and original level creation. I'm not saying that nobody is making good levels anymore, I'm just saying that they are rare and often fail to make it to the popular section, which is more dominated by refreshing levels and compilations of the same minigames used time and time again. So when you see those half decent traditional levels in the new or Hot section, you gotta give them a like. Otherwise the new makers who make them will just give up making real levels and just succumb to building mundane levels that somehow always seem to grip the community. We need to start making more original levels again, we need to share them in places like this subreddit online so that they get noticed. Hopefully this brings some improvement to the levels we see in the community. If you're new and feeling discouraged- Don't give up! Look online for tips! Keep making levels! Practice will make you better. Hopefully SMM2 sees a rebirth. We'll see. Share your cool levels here- I'd be happy to play them!
