Bloomery full of slag

Bloomery full of slag

So uh my iron industry has effectively collapsed. Every bloomery (I have maybe 8) is full of something called “Slag” which is described as a “transitory resource”. I’ve tried deleting the bloomeries and building new ones but they’re still not producing iron slabs. I’m going to reload the game but if that doesn’t work not sure what to do. Anyone experience this?

Rate of Ale Consumption too High?

Is it just me, or is the rate of ale consumption too high? Wheat, Rye, and clothing needs are easily met for the entire year with one farming region. But for ale, I’m always running on dry before the next harvest. I feel like I need to settle new territory exclusively to farm barley. I choose my farmland based on what is most fertile for barley. I am having barley in the crop rotation of every field (1st year rye and wheat, second year barley, third year fallow). And I control for spoilage by limiting how much barley is converted to ale at any one time. Anyone also feel the same way? Or am I doing farming wrong.

As it stands, August must be a grim month for the alcoholics in my town. The withdrawals must be horrible.

“Entertainment Supply”

What is “Entertainment Supply”? How is it calculated, and what does it mean practically for the game? I don’t fully understand the numbers when I hover over it. 58 is the amount of ale I have in the region, but what is 23+20 house icon?

Does food spoil in trading posts?

I know spoilage rate varies depending on the produce and where it’s stored, with granaries being better than pantries and upgraded granaries being better still. But what about food in trading posts? I’ve seen one poster say that goods being transported between regions don’t spoil at all.

Wondering because I’m thinking of making a region with rich fishing as purely a fish export town. My concern is the fast rate of spoilage of fish, apparently it’s the fastest of any good in the game. Knowing where it is safest to keep fish would help inform my logistics planning.

Proximity to border means I keep being thrown into another region

Just wondering if others have experienced this. If I’m working on a region, but I’m close to another that I’ve already “controlled”, it will show me the stats of the other region. I can still keep on working, but I’m kind of working blind. It tends to happen when the border is at the bottom of the screen. The only way to bring me back to the region I’m working on is to zoom way out, and click on the desired region. Not a game-breaker by any means, just frustrating. To avoid it happening, I sometimes rotate the map so that the border is at the top of the screen. But that means viewing the city in a less familiar way.

Still no Nuremburg Prospectors discount?

I took the Nuremberg Prospector development card expecting to get the 30% salt discount, but my salt imports still say they cost 14 points/unit, which is similar to other resources. I did uncover an older Reddit post about it, but only the poster seems to experience it.

Many Enemies Have Tried the Mountain Passage...

...Only to face bitter defeat! The towers require constant maintenance, however.

Fun fact I just discovered - you can plant apple orchards on the river/lake bed during a drought just as the water recedes... Once the droughts ends, and the river/lake refills as normal, the trees will continue to mature underwater until they're harvestable as "very fertile" crop. Really great when farmland is a premium. If you delete the orchards tho you won't be able to replant them until the next drought.
