Question
Hey everyone! I’m 29M. I started on 10mg of Lexapro this past week and realized tonight that I had taken this medication from the ages of 15-24, under the Cipralex branding.
I have been on a few other SSRIs from ages 24-28 after the Cipralex seemingly didn’t help anymore and wasn’t giving me any benefits after so many years on them - I felt anxious and depressed again so my doctor switched my medicine when I was 24. I was on that medication for 3 and a half years. For the past six months I’ve been trialling new meds to find something better suited to my needs as they’ve changed recently and so she suggested Lexapro - I thought it was a different medication from Cipralex, my mistake - but now that I know they’re the same, is there a chance these could work again for me? I haven’t taken them in many years so I feel like it’s possible that my body isn’t used to them anymore and they’ll work again - but thought I’d ask if anyone has a similar experience with this or other medications? Or has any insight? I plan on asking my doctor at my four week follow up but I was ironically getting anxiety about this tonight so here I am asking you all, haha.
None of the other SSRIs I’ve tried this past year have worked well for various reasons so I’m hoping this will help.
Thank you!
