Anime where the side characters feel like real people

Recently finished World Trigger, and that show made me realize a pet peeve of mine for a bunch of other anime. In World Trigger, all of the side characters have solid motivations for their actions, and all get to show off their own unique battle style. Even when it comes down to the government of the setting, which is oftentimes played as a minor antagonist for the MC's, all of the people in power still make fully rational decisions with the info they have available, even when they're against the MC's interests.

In so many shows, especially stuff in the battle shounen/seinen genre, the main character is just always 100% right, and the intelligence of the characters/governments surrounding them feel like they suffer as a result. It also really hurts the world building of a setting when it feels like everything is revolving around the MC. Even if the worldbuilding is done well, its equally annoying when a show has side characters that are pretty much just dedicated to a single repeated gag.

No real preference for genre, I still enjoy a slower paced story if the setting/characters keep me engaged. I always have a softspot for shows with some action in them, but absolutely not necessary. Good dubs are also a plus.

Shows that I've watched that I think fit this

Ascendance of a Bookworm

Campfire Cooking in Another World

World Trigger

FMAB

March Comes In Like a Lion
