How's ya black mold going?

Has Newcastle always been this moldy?

I remember a time, maybe 10 to 15 years ago, when everything felt a little drier and more Australian, but I grew up a little inland from the coast. Climate modeling suggest the coast will remain wet while inland becomes drier in coming months.

Will there be any reprieve from the onslaught of black mold in our homes?

Just poked the ceiling and it crumbled away like dust

Long-time lurker, first time poster. I can hear dripping through the roof onto the ceiling when it rains. Mould has been a problem. The landlord is away the ceiling is fragile, but said we'd need to "ride it out". He also suggested "maybe a bucket with a hose from inside the ceiling". It's a private rental.

That last one got me - I couldn't work out whether he was taking the piss or not. Last I saw him, he was talking about redoing the kitchen. This guy is a builder and I feel like he's sitting on a ticking timebomb.

Just needed to share this somewhere, a small story of my experience - in this house, it's the tip of the iceberg. Ultimately, I believe that if one can't afford to maintain the asset to liveable standards, they have no right to own it. This dude seems to want all the power and none of the responsibilty... the mentality makes me queasy.
