Engine cutting out whilst going downhill - three blobs of fuel
Okay, another question for The Hive Mind. I'm up to about 250 miles on my GT 650, and I've had the engine cut out on me a couple of times. First time caught me by surprise, but I was ready for it the second time. Running down about a long 10% gradient and rolled off the throttle to use engine braking. Engine just died. On three blobs of fuel, but I'm mindful that the Conti has a significant dead volume in a fairly small tank. I'm wondering if the engine braking effect is throwing the remaining fuel forward in the tank and causing transitory fuel starvation. The bike restarts without any problems. I'm also aware that the fuel gauge is not to be relied on (my CBR250R is similar in this respect) so I tend to refuel on distance or aching backside, rather than what the bike is telling me. Any thoughts from more experienced Conti riders?
