Fixed an AORUS LCD panel reverse engineering the software and firmware

I was experiencing persistent issues with the RTX 5080 AORUS MASTER ICE LCD panel, including corrupted uploads, incomplete image rendering, and other behavior that the official software could not reliably fix. After months of troubleshooting, I decided to reverse engineer the software and firmware involved. I was able to identify the root cause and create a working fix. The investigation, findings, and solution are available in my public GitHub repository for anyone interested.

My personal hypothesis is that this may be a chronic issue affecting AORUS LCD panels more broadly. However, my testing, tools, and fix were developed and validated only on the RTX 5080 AORUS MASTER ICE model. For users experiencing similar issues on other AORUS LCD models, my reverse-engineering notes may still be useful as a reference.

Some community-recommended workarounds for these issues, such as reinstalling the firmware, changing Windows language or regional settings, or repeating the official upload process, may appear to fix the problem in certain cases. However, based on my findings, these methods are likely resolving the symptoms by chance rather than addressing the underlying stability issue. As long as static image and GIF uploads continue through the same problematic path, similar corruption or incomplete rendering issues may eventually happen again.

The root-cause fix for the issue I validated is available in my repository. I have also reported the findings to GIGABYTE so they can review the problem and potentially address it officially in the future.

AoE4 Replay Launcher — Watch Old Age of Empires IV Replays

Hello everyone,

I developed AoE4 Replay Launcher, a free and open-source Windows tool for watching both current and old Age of Empires IV replays.

You can search for players, browse and download their matches, filter games by date, or view matches between two specific players. For replays recorded on older patches, the launcher automatically identifies the required game version, reconstructs it using official Steam files, and launches the replay without manually downgrading your current installation.

Your normal AoE4 installation remains unchanged, and no Python or additional setup is required. A legitimate Steam copy of Age of Empires IV is required.
