>!TYTHON!<
>!The stone wobbled midair as Rey stacked it on top of the flatter rock beneath it. Leia watched the pile grow, knowing from experience that it shouldn't be a complicated exercise.!<
>!"Your mind should be here," Leia instructed, impa-tient. "Completely."!<
>!"I didn't come to Tython to play with rocks," Rey said through gritted teeth. Leia had asked her to create a tower with the stones that had tumbled loose in a rockslide at the bottom of the hill between the Slant and the Hundred Steps. The teetering structure was growing, but slower than Leia would have liked. It was already mid-morning, and the sun had risen to blast off the cold tendrils of fog that had accumulated overnight.!<
>!Earlier, she had discovered Rey glued to the ancient Jedi texts in her bunk while C- 3PO stood by, searching his own databanks for any men-tion of the word Simulac-ris. Leia could tell they were both coming up empty just by the tense, aggravated silence strung between woman and droid.!<
>!The next rock that floated over to its mates wiggled and dropped be-fore it could reach the top of the tower.!<
>!Leia slid her eyes slowly to Rey.!<
>!"Is something on your mind?"!<
>!Rey flinched, rolled her shoulders, and tried lifting the rock again. It shot up and out, arcing over the embankment to land harmlessly in the camp. Laughing softly, Leia shifted her weight.!<
">!Luke made me do this every night before I went to sleep. It's meant to be relaxing," Leia said.!<
>!"I'm very relaxed," Rey assured her through a stiffened jaw. The next rock came up, steady, and both women followed its trajectory with their heads as it moved toward the pile. When it was finally balanced on the tower, Rey let go of a loud breath. "Every night?"!<
>!Leia nodded.!<
>!"I'm surprised you both made it off Ajan Kloss alive."!<
>!"Not more surprised than me, I promise," Leia said, smirking. She gently kicked a few loose stones toward Rey's feet to give her more to practice with. The young woman's disheartened grimace only made her more convinced Rey was still stuck deep in a tangle of worries.!<
>!"You can talk to me, Rey," she said. "You've been distracted since that vision in the pool ...!<
>!Rey lifted a rock to chest height and caught it, then tossed it up in the air a few times. "None of it was real."!<
>!"That doesn't mean it didn't hurt," Leia said. The rock soared out of Rey's hand, missed the tower, and skittered down the side of the mountain, vanishing. "My own vision was full of bad memories. Regrets. Pain."!<
>!At the word pain, Rey twitched again. She stopped trying with the rocks and stared down at the tops of her boots, then sniffed and redirected her attention to the mountain peak of Leia's head. The wind was caught the dangling pieces of hair along Rey's temples and danced them around her face. Rey brushed them aside impatiently.!<
>!"Pain," she murmured. Her eyes grew distant, darker.!<
>!"Any lessons on that from Master Luke?"!<
>!Leia coughed softly into her elbow and adjusted!<
>!the cowl around her neck to cover her more thoroughly.!<
>!She had spent the night coughing, worried that an illness was brewing from inhaling all that water and not getting enough rest. Her lungs throbbed at the sight of the steps winding up the hill and the knowledge that she would have to climb them soon.!<
>!"He was a Jedi about it," Leia said, remembering Luke's self- serious tone. He used it whenever he wanted to establish that he was the one in charge. It never lasted long. "Which is to say, he said pain was some thing we had to move toward. No running away.!<
>!Toward." She took her hands away from her cowl and flattened her fingers, tips and thumbs touching until both hands formed a blank triangle. Pushing her hands forward, she closed her eyes, mimicking the movements he had shown her. "Sit with the pain," she said, adopting Luke's sincere tone. "Listen to it without judgment." When Leia opened her eyes, Rey was watching her closely. Caught, Rey quickly ripped her gaze away, then snapped another stone to her right hand. As it drifted out of her grasp and toward the tall pile, she muttered, "l don't know. Maybe some pain should be judged."!<
>!Leia shook her head. "Don't be so hard on yourself.!<
>!You've already been through too much for someone your age."!<
>!"That doesn't change anything. I'm still stacking rocks while | should be in that temple, fixing Master Luke's crystal." The words came out with stubborn surety.!<
>!"You came to Tython to heal that crystal in your pocket, and it will stay broken if we're both dead."!<
>!The last stone touched down on the pile. It was taller than Rey now and threatening to topple. She dusted off her hands, peering at Leia a little sheepishly. "Yes, but | had a look inside the next chamber. It was just two chairs side by side."!<
>!Leia lifted a brow at her. "The pool looked shallow,!<
>!too.!<
>!"!<
>!Rey grimaced. "You can't drown in a chair."!<
>!"We don't understand what this place is," Leia insist-ed, eyeing the last rock Rey had stacked at the top, concerned it was about to slide off. Below, the camp was still. Chewie had offered to check the scanners for First Order chatter, since Gavrin and his friend hadn't emerged from the limpet to begin repairs that morning.!<
>!Everything was too quiet for her liking. She tried to be grateful that the limpet wasn't working yet;the more traffic there was coming and going from Tython, the more opportunities the First Order would have to notice their presence. At the top of the steps, R2- D2 and C- 3PO waited for them. "And we underestimate the ancient Jedi who built the temple at our peril." She motioned for Rey to step away from the rocks. They stayed put. For now. "When you look at that mountain, what do you feel?"!<
>!Rey closed her eyes, though her reluctance couldn't be more palpa ble. She puffed out her lips, adopting a defensive posture as she hugged herself against the cold and Leia's watchful gaze. "Loneliness. Fear. Secrets."!<
>!"That's a start. Dig deeper."!<
>!With a grunt, Rey peeled one eye open, pulling off an!<
>!impressively angry glare with it.!<
>!"Try again," Leia said. "Focus."!<
>!Rey started to do as Leia asked, then scrunched up her face. "I can't think about anything but the lightsaber. We shouldn't linger here. We should be with the Resistance."!<
>!"Healing the crystal won't change the war." Leia gestured to the temple above, then the camp, then the sky. "What you do with it will."!<
Inkstone have just announced the details of their edition of Star Wars: Legacy.
It will have a designed foregdge similar to their recent editions as well as foiling on the boards. It will also have patterned endpapers which is a first for them.
Preorders will open on July 3rd for people who ordered Outlaws: Low Red Moon. This will then be followed on 7th July for people who have ordered Star Wars books from them in the past, July 9th for people on their Star Wars newsletter, and July 11th for General Sale.
No mention of numbering so possible that Goldsboro might do one but no confirmation yet and they didn’t have it for the last few they did that Goldsboro didn’t do so it’s by no means an indication.

I love how these two meet, and while the trust wasn’t completely instantaneous, it still occurred so fast and so strong. These two love and support each other so strongly and without judgement and just want to see the other safe.
I truly believe the Force brought these two into each other’s lives, perhaps because they were meant to rebuild the order together. I really can’t wait to see the relationship explored and deepened in future media, whether that’s in books, tv shows or new movies.
