[HELP] I may have destroyed my grubs pupal chamber
Edit: the species is Trypoxylus dichotomus
I had 4 L3 larvae. I saw one of them had a darker colour and i opened the container to discovered it was dead. I panicked and I checked on other of the grubs (Larva A) , which had changed colour to a more orange tone and had lost weight (I weighed them when I received them about 2 months ago). I know these are signs of a near pupation stage, but I didn't want to take the risk of having not good enough soil or providing an inadequate environment so they weren't eating (these are my first beetles). I then bought a top quality soil and 3 days have passed sice.
Today I changed Larva A's soil, which was barely moving. I changed Larva B's soil too, which was more active but lighter and orangish too. In both cases I respected the 1:3 ratio of new and old soil. When I got to change Larva C's soil, I discovered it was already pupating before doing anything. This means that the first grub death wasn't related to the soil quality or their nutrition, because the rest are pupating.
I'm afraid I could have destroyed the pupal chambers of Larva A and B by changing the soil, because I'm not sure the cavities they usually make are any different to a pupal chamber if they are not pupating. Should I make them an artificial chamber or just leave them be?
