Took some better pictures of the lamprima females that have come out so far :)

Found a decent way to get pictures of them. They're still nothing compared to seeing them in real life but it's good enough lol.

Beetle identification

Found this guy out in my yard, not seen anything quite like him (outside of maybe aquatic species?).

Found in central Florida. Not near any bodies of water. Very hard bodied ~1.5cm.

Apologies first picture quality, pretty quick little thing, so screenshot from a video.

Thanks for any help.

Edit: Thanks to a comment, seems to be a type of Toad Bug

When do I move him/her?

My first stag beetle is reaching adulthood and I'd like to know when I need to move him/her to the actual enclosure and out of the pupae chamber. The booty still looks...pupae like...Also what is the gender?

Stumped again, all males

I collected 4 wild dynastes tityus grubs last summer and they just eclosed. I was hoping for at least one of each sex so that I could continue rearing them, but got all males. Anyone have a female to share? Could possibly arrange a trade as well.

WTF is this I just found in my pupae chamber ?

Google says tick eggs or mold. Not a fan of either option 😕 I already removed and froze it out of caution.

Where to get beetles?

I’m in the U.S. and am looking for a good beetle breeder to buy from!! I don’t have a specific species in mind but have a bioactive tropical 40 breeder open. Ideally I want something more showy but all the breeders I see recommended are either equally not recommended or don’t have anything T-T

Lady beetles from the backyard

A few little lady beetle friends I found hanging out last night 🐞🌿
Couldn’t pick just one shot so I threw a little collage together. The tiny details on these guys are insane once you get close enough …. especially that weird little “M” shape on their faces 😅

Shot handheld on the Sony A7R III + Laowa 90mm 2x Ultra Macro
Lit with the Neewer Z2 Pro and AK diffuser. Mostly around f/8 at 1/160–1/250.

Macro photography has me noticing stuff I’d normally walk right past.💜

Are pachnodas cannibalistic? (TW dead bug in pictures)

So i have a tiny colony of pachnodas and one out of the six (adults) i have wasn't doing so well, didn't pupae well, its adult form was in between larva and beetle stage, wasn't going to live. Knew that. Though i got quite surprised when i opened my terrarium and found three of them eating the body, i didn't know they were cannibalistic, although it seems more like a detritivore behaviour to me ?

In all case, RIP to the small guy.

Please help/give advice

I live in japan. One day at a store I saw an Atlas beetle, he was bumbling around in his small container. I noticed he was way more active than the others. Flipping over moving the woodchips around. Like the space was too small. I left and came back, he was on his back, and couldn't get up.

I felt bad for him and bought him from the store. For about a week he was very active, scrambling around, moving the little fake plants i put in his container. He seemed fine. 2 days ago he was just sitting in a weird way. But I touched him and he reacted like normal. I picked him up yesterday, let him hang on my arm. He seemed less combative but not sickly. I got home today at 5 and I could hear him moving around in his enclosure. I checked on him at 10 and he was on his back, dead. He had a light brown liquid coming out of his.... butt.

I was shocked. I didn't smell anything super weird. He had food. The temperature reached 90F today, but he was in a dark room away from light. My apartment was a little cooler. I gave him water a day or two ago, though he knocked it over. I sprayed the enclosure a few days ago since I heard they need humidity.

As i was typing this i looked at the substrate I can see some white parts on the very bottom. Was it mold? It looked dry mostly to be honest so I hadn't thought that was it but.... I don't know. Im just really sad. It would have been better if I left him at the watahan. I know I messed up but I already feel guilty. Please just help me figure out what I did wrong. It seemed so sudden!

TW!! I found these beetles on a dead deer, what are they?

I’ve never seen these beetles before, I’m in New York. They don’t seem like local beetles? What kind of beetles are they?

Advice.

I found this little guy outside and I think two of his legs are broken or something because he can’t really seem to support himself and just falls over. Should I just put him out of his misery?
