Tier-1 MBA + PM at Telecom Giant → 7 Months, Zero Shortlists. What Am I Missing?

Hey everyone,

Need some honest advice from people who’ve successfully switched into strong product companies/startups recently.

Background:

MDI Gurgaon MBA (2024 batch)

Currently working as a Product Manager at a leading telecom company

Working on API products, digital platforms, and network/product strategy initiatives

Want to transition into a more “core product” environment — ideally:

Quick commerce

Fintech

Consumer tech

Or a solid early-stage startup with strong product culture

The issue: I’ve been actively applying for ~7 months now.

I’ve tried:

LinkedIn applications

Referrals

Reaching out to PMs/recruiters/founders

Cold DMs

Resume iterations

Tailoring applications

…but I’ve literally received almost zero shortlists/interview calls.

At this point, I genuinely want to understand:

What are recruiters actually filtering for in PM resumes right now?

Is telecom/domain-heavy PM experience looked down upon by product companies?

What skills/projects make candidates stand out in 2026?

Are companies mainly prioritizing ex-startup PMs now?

What would you do differently if you were in my position?

Would especially love insights from:

Hiring managers

Recruiters

PMs who transitioned from traditional enterprises into startups/tech companies

I’m open to brutal feedback honestly — resume gaps, positioning mistakes, skill gaps, whatever you think might be the issue.

Feels a bit demotivating after months of effort with no signal from the market, so trying to figure out how to course-correct properly instead of blindly applying.

Thanks in advance.

Trying to Finally Stay Consistent at the Gym — Need a Gym Buddy

Hey folks, looking for a gym partner around Madhapur, 100ft. road 👋

29M here, originally from Rajasthan. I’ve been going to the gym on and off for about a year now, but consistency has always been my biggest problem.

This time I genuinely want to change that instead of stopping after a few weeks 😅

I’ll be starting properly again from Monday and I already have a CultFit subscription.

Thought having a gym buddy might help keep both of us accountable and motivated.

Preferably looking for:

- Another guy

- Beginner or someone getting back into fitness

- Someone serious about building consistency (not hardcore bodybuilding vibes 😂)

Not looking for a trainer or fitness expert — just someone to show up with, push each other a bit, and make the process less boring.

If you’re around Madhapur and planning to start too, drop a comment or DM. Maybe we can suffer through leg days together 💪

Hey everyone,

This is a slightly personal post—thanks for taking a moment to read.

My dad has been a professor his whole life. A few years ago, he decided he wanted to go back to his roots and try farming—something our family hadn’t done in generations.

In 2022, we started a small mango farm and sourced Kesar saplings directly from Gir (Gujarat), because we wanted to do this the right way from day one.

After 3 years of waiting, we finally had our first proper harvest in 2025. We were honestly just happy seeing fruit on the trees. But when it came to selling, we didn’t know much about the market and ended up going through middlemen… who paid us far below what the fruit deserved. After all that effort, we barely recovered our costs.

This year, we didn’t want to repeat that.

So we’re trying something new—selling directly to people in Hyderabad instead of going through agents.

Our mangoes are:
• Organically grown
• Carbide-free (naturally ripened)
• Sourced from Gir-origin Kesar trees

We’re a small farm and the harvest is limited this season, so we’re just trying to sell what we can directly.
