Hi everyone,
I would really appreciate some help with my planted aquarium because I'm not sure what's happening to my plants, especially my Anubias. They seem to be slowly dying, and I can't tell if they're melting, getting too much light, or not getting enough light.
When I bought the Anubias, it was healthy and looked great. I attached it to my driftwood and made sure that the rhizome was not buried in the substrate because I know that can cause problems.
My old lighting schedule was:
* 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM (4 hours)
* 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM (4 hours)
Total: 8 hours of light per day.
I started worrying that maybe I was giving the plants too much light and possibly causing algae or stressing the plants, so I recently changed the schedule to:
* 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (1 hour)
* 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM (4 hours)
Total: 5 hours of light per day.
Now I'm wondering if I reduced the light too much and if the plants actually need more light instead.
My current fish and tank inhabitants are:
* 2 Dwarf Gouramis
* 1 Yellow Gourami
* 3 Serpae Tetras
* Several Zebra Danios
* Whisker Shrimps
Could any of these fish or shrimp be eating or damaging my plants?
I live in the Philippines, and my aquarium is located in a corner near a window/ridge, so it may also be getting some indirect natural light during the day.
Can anyone help me identify what's causing this? What would be the ideal lighting schedule for Anubias and other beginner-friendly plants? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much!
