How do the students/school policies compare in terms of behavior?
I am Californian. Wondering if more rural or more Republican states are more punitive by and large and suspend/discipline easier…

My last conversation partner consistently used our time to discuss their relationship problems, mental health problems, family problems. I am not trained or equipped to give advice, counsel, or support someone through trauma. Please do not ask this of me.
Obviously I could cancel parties and other class event rewards we have been working towards that are scheduled for the future… but what else do you guys set as a big consequence that very next day? Teachers of all grade levels, please weigh in but those who teach 3rd - 5th please do chime in!
Edit: my management/discipline style is very restoring justice when harm is done however possible, seeing through the natural consequences of choices/actions (call me a hippie!) and then just rewards and perks daily weekly monthly that they miss out on if they can’t tighten up. It works but I’ve never had to discipline a class really. Thought I’d hop on here and gather some input!
I watched Tom Hank’s Greyhound and I loved the lingo and how tightly spun it felt, combat never really let up. Is there anything similar, tv or movie? Best part of the movie for me was how real it felt (not necessarily accurate since I don’t have much factual/historical knowledge to compare it against)
I’ve seen Wolfs Call, Hunt for Red October, Hunter Killer, Das Boot. Anything else out there?
