Used Trek 1.1 Alpha
Disclaimer: I’ve never owned a road bike before, I’m just starting triathlon training and Its time to find a bike.
I truly didn’t realize how pricy bikes can be. I went to a trek store and was really impressed by the quality of the bike. While I save up for a newer bike I am looking for a used one while I continue training for my sprint triathlon this fall.
Does anyone have any experience with a 1.1 alpha? Is this a good beginner bike?

For the last couple weeks as I reach about 20 MPH I started hearing a loud humming/growling noise, wheel had some play as well. I took it to a shop and they stated my driver side wheel bearing was shot and passenger was probably shot also, quoted $1500. I took it to a shop down the road and they stated after test drive they heard the same noise I described and they proceeded to put it on a lift and speed the truck up again and he said after doing that he heard no noise from the wheel hubs but all the noise was coming from the front differential.
Does this sound suspect? Seems like the second shop actual did some troubleshooting but idk what to do believe.
Recent work completed before this noise was front end suspension replacement of lower/upper control arms, struts, outer tie rods. Changed front differential and transfer case fluid last year.
