How do I get more volume and definition?

So I recently decided to stop straightening my hair and try embracing my natural texture. I think I'm somewhere around 2C/3A, but I'm still figuring it out.

I tried CGM and my hair definitely curled, but I got very little volume and the definition didn't seem great. My hair is also quite dry/frizzy from years of heat styling.

My routine:

L'Oréal Hyaluron Moisture shampoo + conditioner

Fix My Curls Curl Quenching Cream

Fix My Curls gel

Applied products on soaking-wet hair

Scrunched upside down

Air-dried

I have very long hair and naturally don't have much root volume.

Hair type: 2C/3A

Porosity: Medium ( Honestly somewhere between medium to high I think, still trying to figure this out)

What am I doing wrong? How can I get better definition AND make my hair look fuller without weighing it down?

Would mousse, a stronger-hold gel, different application techniques, or diffusing help?

Any advice is appreciated! ❤️

Anyone successfully treated years of tanning/sun damage?

I never properly used sunscreen until I was around 23, so I know I’m pretty late to it. I’ve been consistent with sunscreen for the last 3 years now, but I still feel like a lot of sun damage/tan from earlier years is very visible, especially the difference between my face and chest.

For the past 2+ years, I’ve also been using salicylic acid and kojic acid alternately every night and sunscreen during the day, but I honestly don’t feel the detan is happening.

At this point, I’m open to safe clinical treatments too if they actually help. Has anyone here successfully treated years of tanning/sun damage? What genuinely worked for you?

TIA!
