2B | medium porosity | Need Help finding products

I have 2B wavy hair with medium porosity. My concern is to define my waves, reduce frizz, and achieve a healthy shiny look without weighing down my hair, making it greasy, and leaving clumps.

My biggest concern is I am new to haircare and I don’t know what products to choose. Your help on choosing the following products is highly appreciated:

Shampoo

Conditioner

Leave-in conditioner/serum

Curl cream or hair butter

Gel or mousse

How frequently should I wash my hair?

How much product should I apply?

Should I air-dry my hair or use a diffuser?

Are there any other hair care advice for 2b medium-porosity hair?

As I live in India, your recommendation on products that are easily available here is more appreciable.

If you have 2B hair, it would be great if you could also suggest what hair care routine works best for you.

I prefer something simple as I am a newbie.

Tried curly girl method for the first time after years of straightening

Hair type-2c-3a (I guess)

Hi guys,

I have been really insecure of my curls throughout my life. But straightening my hair every week was pretty damaging for my hair and I guess now I am finally ready to embrace my actual hair.

Routine used-

Pre shampoo-I used minimalist maleic acid bond repair pre shampoo treatment on length and indulekha hair oil on roots.

Shampoo and hair mask-Then I washed my hair with loreal professional absolut repair shampoo and used minimalist maleic acid bond repair hair mask.

After wash- I used love beauty planet leave in cream(angelica seed oil, rice water) then I used manetain hard hold gel. Scrunched my hair a little and air dried..later added a pinch of coconut oil to fluffy it and break the cast.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions for the hair routine? I would really appreciate some tips. I am trying to love my natural hair.

Bad experience with Dove leave in (2c-3a low porosity curls)

Bought this off blinkit because I had a nice experience with the Dove Beautiful Curls hair mask, but it turned out to be terrible! I usually use my curl cream/leave in followed by a mousse and sometimes gel or serum. This leave in made my hair so dry and frizzy and the hold didn't even last a full day. Will not recommend! If anyone's used this succesfully, please tell me what other products you paired it with for decent results.

This is the best my hair has ever looked! 🥹 ( 2b-2c )

I have low porosity hair 🍡🍡

Products used :

  1. Shampoo : Loreal Paris Hyaluron Moisture

  2. Conditioner: Loreal Paris Hyaluron Moisture

  3. Hair gel : Fix my curls quenching flax seed hair gelly + Set wet gel ( blue variant ) to get extra hold.

I use them together! Not all the time, for this hair I did use this and it came out so well 🥹 also I air dry my hair!!

Any tips on how I can make my roots wavy as well :/ it always gets wavy on my ends but it doesn't stay that long !! I want my waves to last long as well.

Why is my hair getting frizzier through the day

I’ve attached some photos but I went to bed with my gel cast on and it looked really promising when I scrunched out the crunch! And then progressively through the day it got quite a bit frizzy and it’s like the curl at my roots dropped?

1st photo is with gel cast the next morning

Second photo is immediately after scrunching out the crunch

3/4/5 and at the end of the day

Routine:
First shampoo - either ouai detox shampoo or Umberto Giannini Curl Jelly Wash Curl Defining Shampoo every other wash - last night I used the UG curl jelly wash curl defining shampoo

Second shampoo - Davines Love Curl Shampoo

Conditioner - Davines Love Curl Conditioner

While still in the shower on sopping wet hair
Leave in - CURL MANIFESTO CRÈME DE JOUR ANTI-FRIZZ CREAM FOR CURLY HAIR

Mousse - Umberto Giannini Curl Whip Curl Activating Mousse

Gel - not your mothers curl talk gel

I then diffused, hovered until my roots were dry and then dried the rest

Hair type - high porosity ?3A (idk how to pick this)

Any actual tricks to grow/retain hair length? 🥲
Also, please tell me how you guys actually maintain your hair because, Tbh, I haven’t done that in the last 28 years 🤦🏻‍♀️
My hair genetics aren’t bad, so I feel like I’m probably just terrible at hair care 😂
Would love to hear your realistic routines, products, habits, or anything that genuinely helped you grow and retain length.
Especially curly/high-porosityv hair people teach me your ways! 🫶🏻

How do I get more volume and definition?

So I recently decided to stop straightening my hair and try embracing my natural texture. I think I'm somewhere around 2C/3A, but I'm still figuring it out.

I tried CGM and my hair definitely curled, but I got very little volume and the definition didn't seem great. My hair is also quite dry/frizzy from years of heat styling.

My routine:

L'Oréal Hyaluron Moisture shampoo + conditioner

Fix My Curls Curl Quenching Cream

Fix My Curls gel

Applied products on soaking-wet hair

Scrunched upside down

Air-dried

I have very long hair and naturally don't have much root volume.

Hair type: 2C/3A

Porosity: Medium ( Honestly somewhere between medium to high I think, still trying to figure this out)

What am I doing wrong? How can I get better definition AND make my hair look fuller without weighing it down?

Would mousse, a stronger-hold gel, different application techniques, or diffusing help?

Any advice is appreciated! ❤️

Fmc moisture vs protein styling duo

Hair type - 2b-3a

I’ve been using the fmc protein styling duo till now but the protein gel only has hold that lasts for two days. Has anyone with wavy hair used the moisture flax seed gel from fmc? Has it worked better? It’s supposed to have stronger hold than the protein one.

[2c/3a curls] which brush should I get?

guys I'm searching for a wet detangling+ styling brush. my hairs are super fine so very much prone to breakage. I've come across 2 dupes on meesho.

a) bounce curl brush

b) tangle teezer brush

but I've no idea If these dupes even work ( especially the latter one) . if anyone has tried it do share how well it works or give me any other recommendations

Wileird combo of hair-type (2b-3a?)

The top half of my hair (roots to mid-length) is straight, and then my hairs are super curly from mid-length till the end.

What even is my type , plus I have oily scalp and dry ends.

I currently use Loreal 3% glycolic acid complex shampoo and conditioner and streax hair serum towards the end after airdrying.

What hair type do y’all think I have (gpt thinks 4A)+ how tf do I deal with lint 😭

I’ve been trying to figure out my hair type, so lmk what you guys think.

Also lint is genuinely my biggest opp. I’m constantly finding little bits of lint/fibers stuck in my hair, especially from clothes, towels and bedsheets.

Should i buy this?

How is this curl defining brush? Should i buy this? I have seen so many influencers using this while doing section method. Is this brand good or should i buy a different one. I have 2c-3a curls. I am also getting a bonnet to protect the curls overnight because my curls look like a mess the 2nd day.
