Theory: Davy D. Jones was a User of Brook’s Yomi Yomi no Mi

So in One Piece 309 we learn that Davy D Jones" was said to have been cursed by a demon to live on the sea floor.^(")

We have 3 possibilities here:

  1. Jones was a Fishman

  2. Jones was forced to live under water at Fishman Island or on his coated ship

  3. Jones had a Devilfruit that made him invincible... and drowned

We know one Devilfruit that would make this possible: The Yomi Yomi no Mi.

So Davy could have had the Yomi Yomi no Mi. And so, after being drowned (by Imu) as only way to make sure he will be dead and not revived, his soul came back after death. But unlike Brook, his body was at the bottom of the sea. So when his soul finaly found the body, it returned to a corpse trapped underwater. He was not able to move but he lived. Cursed to live on the sea floor. But he somewhat escaped and became the pirate Davy D Jones.

That would connect three things directly:

  1. Davy Jones’ Locker In real-world sailor myth, Davy Jones’ Locker is the bottom of the sea: the grave of drowned sailors.
  2. Brook’s fruit Brook’s fruit is the one Devil Fruit we know that directly deals with death, the soul, resurrection, and later soul manipulation.
  3. Pirate flags / Jolly Rogers are skulls. Davy was said to have been a King, maybe even the pirate King. Every other pirate wanted to sail "under his flag". The man who was a living skull. The birth of the jolly roger. In the Davy Back Fight, crews can lose members and even their flag. Their symbol of sailing under their King. it symbolically means losing your right to sail under that inherited pirate identity

He was the pirate who drowned, returned from death, and became tied to the sea as the place where dead pirates end up.

The great question is: What happens if brook awakens his fruit. If it is about soul influence, this would match a lot into the Davy Jones myth: affecting dead souls, lingering wills, or spirits connected to death. Basically, Brook becomes able to do consciously what Davy Jones became mythologized for.

So the theory is simple:

Davy D. Jones was the previous Yomi Yomi no Mi user. He drowned, revived underwater, became skeletal, and his legend became “Davy Jones’ Locker.” Brook is now carrying the same death-and-soul power.

How the tiny habbit of being fake optimistic changed my life

Skipable Pre-Storybullshit

Oi. This is for all the loosers and bullying victims out there. Been there, done that. Went through hell. But I fixed it. I may have been lucky, but I want you to try.

I dont want to add more to my backstory besides not wanting to live anymore. Besides problems in my family, no relationships and friendships at all and no good grades, i had undiagnosted adhd which made all the above much worse.

After 10th grade I left my hometown for a technical diploma.

Optional Storybullshit

I met my goat teacher of all time: Mr Oster. Besides being a great database teacher, he was just fair. He graded fair. He gave everyone a chance. He supported us a lot.

At our last day with him, he took the opportunity and watched a movie with us. It was "The Secret". A "spirituality pseudo-documentary consisting of a series of interviews designed to demonstrate the New Thought "law of attraction"" to Quote Wikipedia.

We had a good laugh. It was such bullshit. (And I still believe that.)

But I respected Mr Oster a lot. And it made me think: Why? Why would he show something like this to us? AT his last day?

And so I tried.

Why being fake optimistic works

From this day on I started to "Wish" for things and strongly (and fakely) believed in it. I started to be optimistic.

And from day 1 on it worked a lot. I got better in school. I found my first girlfriend. I was so freaking lucky in life that it became a joke in my friendcircle. My friends adapted and soon their life went much better too.

Its 15 Years since then. My life turned completly upside down. I am truly happy. And I found peace with the bullying. It led me here.

I reflected a long time why it worked.

My conclusion is: Its not something spiritual (Obviously). being positive and believing in your wishes had the following effects that always work:

0. It is easy. You can just do it. Beat your inner "This is stupid". Just fake it.

1. You are more positive in front of others. Others believe much more in you. Things are getting way easier. As a side effect: you start to believe in your friends much more which makes your friendships healthier.

2. You beat your anxiety and start to be brave. Believing in your wishes helps A LOT to beat bad thoughts. To start. To do the right thing. Most task in this life are easy. What is not easy is beating your inner monologue that you will fail.

3. You stop overthinking. Its not necessary anymore. Your inner "It will happen, it will work" just beats it.

4. It cascades. You are much more open to good things that happen to you. And so you get much happier.. And you gain trust into yourself.

5. You are much more open. People love that.

6. Things that are hard suddenly become much more easy. If I wish: I want to be more sporty and believe in this wish every day, it works mich better than thinking "I need DISCIPLINE!!"

So... What to do?

Do I recommend watching the movie? No. Do I recommend reading the book? Honestly: Dont know. Never read it. In my opinion you can read all that you need online. Or here. You dont need to know more than this:

  1. Choose a good goal. Be specific and focus on what you can control. Think carefully about the outcome you actually want. For example, "I want to lose weight through regular exercise and healthy nutrition" is better than "I want to lose weight."
  2. Visualize your future self. Close your eyes and imagine yourself having achieved your goal. Picture the details, how your life feels, and why it matters. Focus on becoming the person who naturally lives that reality.
  3. Build confidence in your ability to achieve it. Tell yourself:"I can become the kind of person who achieves this. Every action I take brings me closer." You do not need absolute certainty. Confidence grows through repeated action. So lie if necessary!
  4. Identify the biggest obstacle and make an "If–Then" plan. Ask yourself:"What is most likely to stop me?" Then decide in advance:"If that happens, then I will..."
  5. Create reminders and repeat daily. Put visual reminders where you will see them naturally (phone wallpaper, mirror, desk, notebook). The goal is to repeatedly activate your identity, your vision, and your next action.

And these points are scientificly valid. In my comment you will find papers that researched this behavior.
