Found my late aunt's journal entries about her boyfriend — now questioning everything about how she died
My aunt (36) passed away last August 2025. We only found out she had a boyfriend the night she died, when he called my sister saying that our tita was being revived at the hospital. Turns out she'd been living with him and his family for 3 years.
At the funeral, his family seemed decent and well-off. Photos from their friends made them look happy. But my mom found this journal entry while going through her things:
"When my boyfriend who is my partner in life, doesn't listen to me, it makes me feel dumb. Like I am not worth his attention. when he speaks, i try my best to listen. But he is so blatant in ignoring me. Sometimes, I think that it is unfair. I Live here w/ him. His family is here. But I don't have any friends or family near. When I need to meet w/ my friends , I need a reason. I don't have anything. He has everything but he still treat treat me so Bad. I don't know what to do Because I Love him. I hope he treats me better and not just about MONEY"

Her boyfriend was the one who found her unconscious. After reading this, I'm starting to wonder if the relationship was more controlling than it appeared. Am I overthinking this because of grief? Or are these legitimate red flags?
