"New" Addon: Achievements
Hey everyone!
We just released a new addon: Achievements!
Achievements UI of an lvl 60 HC char
Well, basically, it's not something new, but we took all available achievement data from WotLK and the existing Achievement UI and brought it to Classic (and TBC). In the process, we had to make a few changes, of course:
- Some achievements aren't compatible with Classic / TBC and had to be removed
- Some achievement criteria had to be removed, like i.e. Loremaster is still possible on Classic, but doesn't include non-achievable criteria
- Achievement Rewards had to be removed except for titles. They are still "granted" and can select as usual (but they will only be shown to other users of the Achievements addon)
- Earning an achievement is not playing the usual visual VFX around the character - not possible via addons
- Achievement Titles can only be shown via nameplates/tooltips; the normal "floating name" doesn't support addon altering.
Besides that, the achievement system from WotLK has been reimplemented with all possible features:
- Achievements / Statistics UI
- Chat Links
- Earned messages for local / guild players
- Comparison of Achievements / Statistics with other players
We tried to keep the addon as close as possible to Blizzard's Achievements, which means the UI / Chat links, etc., should feel native.
Additionally, we decided (for now) not to alter or add any achievements to stay as close as possible to WotLK.
That said, the addon underwent quite a testing already, but it's quite possible that:
- Some achievements/statistics are granted wrongly or not at all
- Some achievement evaluation situations cause small lags (due to the amount of data being processed)
We haven't created a Discord for the addon yet, so if you find issues, feel free to report them here, on CurseForge, or on our GitHub page!
Thank you all for reading til here, and enjoy your journey in Azeroth!
