Hi everyone! My husband has officially given me the green light to reclaim our "lost" space.

This room was originally a formal "walk-through" dining room, complete with a massive 16' solid wood table. Since we never used it for dining, it eventually devolved into a total "catch-all" for junk. We’re finally clearing the "crap" and turning it into our dream "His and Hers" gaming suite!

The Space Specs:

  • The Main Wall: A generous 15' 9" span featuring a massive window. There is about 105" from the wall to the front of the cabinets.
  • The Window: It’s 6 feet tall and terminates just 6 inches from the floor.
  • The Light: It faces East, so we get direct sun in the morning, but it’s in the shade by 10:00 AM (so glare isn't a long-term issue).
  • The View: There is a patio with furniture on the other side of the glass, so the back of the setup won't be visible from the yard—no "cable-spaghetti" eyesores for the neighbors!
  • The Tech: Neither of us games with microphones, so acoustic reflections off the glass aren't a concern for us.

My Current Vision: I’m leaning toward placing both desks side-by-side along that 15' 9" window wall. I want to build a shared "snack peninsula" between the desks to act as a hub for drinks and snacks.

Since I have a large collection of Pothos, Arrowhead, and Swiss Cheese plants, I’m envisioning a "Jungle Station" vibe where the greenery frames the window and the peninsula.

I’d love your input on:

  1. Would you stick with the side-by-side window layout, or is there a better way to use that 15ft wall?
  2. How would you design a "snack peninsula" to look like a high-end part of the setup rather than an afterthought?
  3. Any tips for integrating a heavy plant collection into a dual-desk setup?

I'm so excited to finally move on from the "storage room" phase. Can't wait to hear your ideas!
