How should I display my consoles?
Hey good people of Reddit who've done out your gaming rooms. I'm about to start on my own setup. Right now I have an improvised thing going on, with rickety shoe racks stacked precariously for my beloved machines.
I'm not great at this stuff, and I'm quite perfectionist (which is why i haven't attempted this before). In a weird way, I'm happier with my janky setup than I am having a go and messing it up, if that makes any kind of sense.
So I'm not just looking for advice, I'm actively trying to avoid the pitfalls or choosing the wrong thing. I want to learn from the things that went wrong when you put your setup together, so I can try to avoid them myself.
What was your hitlist of must haves and where did it go wrong, fall short or disappoint?
Game room ideas
Hey guys! Trying to upgrade my setup here. I have a bunch of empty room and I'm wondering what this community would think of what I should put here. I don't want to block my patio door, so I'm thinking something on the wall, maybe a small storage shelf, desk and then storage shelves above it, maybe an art display, I'm really not sure. Wanted to get some ideas
Here’s my updated Office
I gotta add a little more art to my wall
MY Gaming RIG!! 3 consoles, 1 setup!
Hi gamers, I’m from Hyderabad and this is my gaming rig and entertainment hub in my personal living room. Took me a hell lot of time over the years and undeniable frustration especially with cable management but was it worth it at the end of the day?? Absolutely yes!!
Tech in the setup:
- TV- Samsung QN90D 85’’ [2024]
- Soundbar : Samsung Q900D [2024]
- Speaker: Marshall Stanmore II
- Setup box: Apple TV 4K
And I don’t have to mention the consoles and accessories cause you guys know it all 🙌. I don’t know about the reach but just wanted to post this fine Saturday morning. 🍻
First time sharing
First time sharing my game room. It’s still a work in progress because I keep tweaking things.
My small humble games/media room
Slowly but surely, it's never really finished is it.
Gaming Room done mostly with IKEA stuff
Finally finished my display wall using IKEA cabinets.
Wanted something that looked built-in without spending custom cabinetry money. Added lighting, glass doors, and used it to display my retro games, miniatures, and collectibles.
Pretty happy with how it turned out!
Happy to answer any questions about the cabinet layout, lighting, or costs!
MTG room setup
Hi. I just moved to a new house and I'd like to dedicate part of the game room to Magic: The Gathering. I'd like to see some ideas for shelves/furniture to neatly organize my decks and other Magic accessories next to the gaming table. Would you be willing to share your setup?
Approaching the Final Touches
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Recently finished our game room
Fairly small room but I think we packed it pretty well. Probably went overboard with the RGB but its all hooked up to a light switch so people can turn it off if they want. We've really been enjoying the space so it has been a success for us at least! Let me know what you think or if you've got any questions.
EDIT: A few commonly asked questions I figure I should just answer here.
We have a CRT TV as well (Sony Trinitron) but due to my sensitivity to sound, the ringing sound that CRT's produce really bothers me which is why we switched to a modern OLED. We do have a RetroTINK-4K Pro hooked up to it so it upscales and looks as good as possible.
The arcade machine is a custom cabinet of mine running on Windows with Bigbox/Launchbox. I mod and build custom cabinets as a hobby. This specific one, the frame was purchased from Game Room Solutions, all of the hardware and software I do myself. This is not something I do as commission work but if you are interested in doing something similar just send me a message, I love to help people out with this stuff! I also have done a lot of arcade 1 up mods with raspberry pi's which are much cheaper options than a full windows PC like shown here.
Two gamers in one room
me and my wife are in two bedroom home and wanted to make a second room a game room where we can both play, and everything seemed good until I thought about times we we would be in the same call or even different calls (my mic will pick her up and her mic will pick me up) I was wondering if there are any ways I could fix that… would getting the little foam stuff that goes on the wall help?? Are there things I could do to??
What screen size should I get for me and my bf’s game room?
In progress of building my boyfriend’s and I’s game room. We will have a screen each on the desks (we play on ps5s). The desks are 150x80cm. We want big screens but not too big so it is uncomfortable. What do you think?
Planning my game room
I’m trying to plan my game room. I decided to make a quick blender mockup. I have too much to include but I’m
Trying to minimize and simplify. I need shelves for action figures, a place to store games and controllers and I hope to put up some art / posters. I’ll try and update my progress as I go along this summer.
Renovation/ Upgrades
Upgraded my set up and added the girlfriend’s setup to my game room/office. Lots of work, and excited with how it turned out. Sorry for the lack of more “before” pictures
How would you redesign this room? Looking for paint, bookshelf, and overall setup ideas.
This is my current room and workspace. I'm planning to repaint the walls and change the color/finish of the bookshelf, and I'm open to rearranging things if it would improve the overall look.
I prefer a modern, clean, minimalist aesthetic (not a warm/cozy theme). Most of my setup is black with some white accessories, including:
Black PC, monitors, keyboard, and mouse
White monitor arm and headphones
Dual-monitor setup
I'd love suggestions on:
Wall color
Bookshelf color or finish
Desk color (if it should be changed)
Lighting ideas (RGB vs neutral white)
Decorations (posters, plants, shelves, etc.)
Cable management
Any layout improvements
I'm open to photos, mockups, or inspiration if you have any. Thanks!
