Need Some Advice!

Hi r/ROGAllyX,

So to cut to the chase, I've been wanting to get into the pc handheld space for a while but by the time I got a prebuilt pc and wanted to buy a steam deck the price had risen dramatically that it's out of my budget now. My Current handhelds that I have have are a Switch OLED, a New Nintendo 3ds xl, and two ds lites (long story for both of them, one of them is respelled but the L + R buttons are broken and the other one works perfectly fine both were given to me as gifts). I usually rotate between my consoles and I really enjoy being able to put them in my satchel and go out with them. My Switch OLED I got for a really good deal but I use that for first party Nintendo games and then my 3ds xl I use that to play 3ds games and also mod them as well, and then the two Nintendo DS lites those I keep for nostalgia sake and because I prefer playing Pokemon games on the ds lite screen since it looks better in my opinion. I bought a pc back in February of this year and then upgraded it to make it better, I'm very satisfied with that but I still have the urge to be able to play my games away from my desk. I've tried moonlight but it doesn't work well with my house and I can't run a ethernet cable as the people I live with don't want that in the house.

My Question to you all would be

  1. If I already have a decent pc, is it worth buying a pc handheld? and if so how has it affected you're gaming habits is it really worth the price tag being able to get away from your desk and play games. because I know with the current ram prices things might get more expensive as time goes on and I don't want to miss my windows of opportunity if that's the case
  2. If I were to get a pc handheld, is it portable enough like a switch or a 3ds that I can take it with me out of the house, or is it a console that you keep inside and not really take out.

Thank you all for your time reading this and I'll try and answer any questions you may have!
