Writing a custom Galway pub crawl dnd game—looking for local character ideas!

Hello everyone, I've never run a roleplaying game before, but I'm writing a custom game for a pub crawl around Galway. (By DM, I just mean I'm running the game and keeping score!).

The idea is we hit a few pubs to face mini-bosses based on local characters. So far, I have an Eyre Square preacher who gives buffs, a hurler sidekick you can summon, college students, and a final boss who heals when he drinks whiskey—so my friends have to knock the pints away from him to win.

Since I'm not a local, I'm posting because you guys know the city's real legends and characters way better than me. What iconic Galway figures should I turn into bosses or encounters? Cheers!

My landlady is making me cover an empty room since Christmas

My Land lady is making us cover an empty room since Christmas. I have moved in since last September last year. I live in Galway. I have asked her multiple times can I fill the room and she comes up with some excuse. I haven’t signed a contract, I know very stupid of me. But she’s just so odd and the house is pretty divided. I like with a 27, 24 and 39. I get along with the 39 year old. The 27 and 24 are friends. Don’t get along with them at all. The 27 shouts and screams over his video game and a month after me moving in he had a fight with his brother at 2 in the morning. who I actually became good friends with. The fight turned physical and the brother locked himself in bathroom and called the guards. So I stay out of his way…

The 39 year old is moving out soon so I’m worried I will have to cover that room is well. Which is another 100 so it’s gonna be 600. I’m only paying 500 now which is very handy. But I keep asking her to fill the room. Said it would be nice to have a fresh face. She said if I’m not happy I can move house. But why am I covering a room when I keep asking to fill it? I think she wants us all to just move out since the 27 year old is always giving out about 39 year old. Calling him a prick and a stupid fuck in the group chat when he tried to fill the room with his Spanish friend.

I’m starting college soon and looking for part time job so I’m gonna really tight on money.
I looked for places to move out but I live in Galway so the cheapest place I seen was like 650 but that’s only 4 doors down…..

GTI Film and tv production.

Hey guys I’m planning to do the GTI plc course this year in film and tv production. But I have bills to pay. My rent is 500 and I pay about 50 euro for WiFi and bin. I’m 24 last time I was in college I was 17 so my parents paid. Any advice on what schemes I could do to help? I have no idea at all about Suzy grant or what not. I’m also planning to get a job but that’s only gonna bring in about 850 cause it will be part time.

Anyone else going GTI? Or even doing the film and tv production course? Also any advice on making new friends? 🙈 id consider myself a social person but im very shy and get so anxious meeting people. Very nervous to go back to college at 24 pushing 25……

Some advice please

I’m starting a new job on Tuesday which is the 1st. It’s working in a bookies. I worked in a bookies before and I actually enjoyed it cause it’s a lot of working on a computer which I’m quite good at. I also have an interview for GTA film and tv production. If I get the course I’ll be starting on the 14th. I have been on the job hunt for a while unfortunately but I didn’t think it through that I can’t do a full time job while doing a plc. I stupidly thought I would only be in college like two days a week, but it’s actually 15 hours. The plc would be really beneficial for me as I don’t know many in Galway and lack abit of social life.

Do I A) leave the plc for next year and work the bookies.

B)Try to make it work by going to college like 2 days a week and then going work.

C) Tell my job now that I have the plc coming up even tho I didn’t say it in the interview because I thought I would be able to balance it and see if we can work together to figure out how to plan it.

D) Just leave the job in like a week when college starts on the 14th and try to get a part time job.

I would feel pretty unfortunate about leaving the job as it’s right beside where my gf lives and I like working on a computer. But as someone who has dropped out of college in the past I feel this course is something I’m extremely interested in.

Why is public transport here shite?

I swear the buses are late every single fucking day. It’s a disgrace. I get the 402 from atu and it’s late every single time. This countries public transport in this country is such a joke. Same with the train. Going to limerick you go on the shitty tiny train that’s only 3 carriages long and have to sit on the floor. And then waiting when your 5 minutes outside Galway for the train to come out which takes about 15 minutes. Irelands public transport is a fucking joke.

Would you do in this situation

I was in IMC last night with my girlfriend and my friend. We were watching the new spider man and it was packed besides the first like 6 rows. In the middle of the front rows there were teenage girls about 4 or 5 of them. Talking non stop. Laughing, gossiping about boys or what not. I went to bathroom and just said to the security guard cause they were annoying as fuck. When he came in it was a serious part on the movie so they weren’t making any noise. He was just stood by the door just watching but didn’t do anything. About an hour left in the movie and they were talking and laughing again so I said shhh really loudly and it stopped them for about 30 mins and were talking so loudly again last half an hour. What would you guys do in this situation? I know they are young but if you wanna talk and hang out with friends just don’t come cinema? If they were older I would have probably told them directly to shut up but since they were young I decided not to. Thanks for listening to my rant.
