Lethal accident at my workplace yesterday 27JUL26
Yesterday an aircraft sheet metal technician at HAECO HK fell from height and sadly passed away. He is 62 y/o and fell from a 6 meter tall fuselage dock.
I just wanna say my thoughts and feelings towards this accident.
Look at the pictures, just look at it. Everything is just wrong, what is that? Poorly designed, cheap looking little metal plates to keep you from dying. No warning signs whatsoever. I have heard the Hangar retrofitted the metal plates after the dock was built, not some original design. Not certified, not durable and DEFINITELY NOT SAFE. Many mechanics reported this case to the company but they decided to turn a blind to it, until finally it took someone’s life.
HAECO HK to keep deflecting the blames because this is what they always do, they are soo good at not listening to their mechanics and giving us shit for “not doing enough safety precautions” while these wack-ass facilities are out there.
RIP to the si fu.
