How do I remove acrylic paint from Converse shoes?

My friend and I drunk-painted his Converses completely with acrylic paint because the shoes had faded after it was accidentally left out in the sun for a few days. It has been a while and the paint is completely dry now and looks terrible because the colour didn’t turn out the way we thought it would and the paint went on much thicker than intended so it's made the shoes stiffer. I’ve tried isopropyl alcohol and glycerin and nether of them worked. Please tell me there’s a way to get it out so that I can dye them.
