Very interested in seeing what type you think I am!!

Hey! I'm making this post because I've been interested in MBTI for a pretty long time now but I've always struggled with typing myself, so I thought I'd try my luck here! I'll just be using the questionnaire and if you type me I would also love to hear the reasoning behind the typing :)

  • Give a general description of yourself. How old are you?

I'm a 17 year old female, I know technically you're not completely developed at this age but I'd still like to know what you think my MBTI is... Even if it might be subject to change later in my life. I hope the you will get the general description part with the questionnaire.

  • What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not? If you are not working, what kind of job do you want to do or what are you studying?

I am currently a high school student doing the SAT equivalent of my country and hopefully I graduate and go on to university! I am not a big fan of school for a multitude of reasons. I think the school system is very flawed, I don't think tests are a fair way of judging someone's capabilities, I think the school system is too rigid and should be more focused on personal capabilities, wants and needs and I think the grading system sucks and just pits students against each other. Whilst that is why I think the school system is bad I also don't like school because I picked a lot of subjects I am just plain bad at, primarily Chemistry, Biology and Math, I am much better at languages and art history. If I do graduate I will be studying Chinese at university though I have also considered trying to get a degree in screenwriting, but I am always doubting if I should do that or not, because of the job opportunities obviously not being great and sometimes I don't know if I'm a good enough writer/storyteller or if I have good enough ideas to be a screenwriter.

  • Describe your childhood/upbringing. Did it have any kind of ideological or structured influence? How did you respond to it? Did you have any significant negative experiences that may have affected how you think or behave?

I have had (am still having?) a pretty happy upbringing, in my opinion. I have parents who love me and a sister I get along great with. My parents were/are a little on the helicopter side of things but I overall think they are good parents. A negative experience I did have that I do think impacted my life significantly was that when I was around 8? (I think) I was friends with this girl who I had a pretty troubled relationship with, basically we always fought and made up and just had a pretty weird dynamic, and I think I might've gained some attachment and detachment issues, but it isn't too bad. I also got a bit of a trauma from it when I was younger but that is healed now.

  • Do you have any mental or physical health issues that might affect how think or choose to live? Provide a brief description.

I do have a chronic illness but it is very mild and I don't feel anything from it in my day to day life, so no.

  • If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?

I would say I would feel refreshed but also be glad to see people again. I generally spend a lot of time alone and I enjoy being alone but also need some interaction with other people. Not a lot though, but just a little would be good for me. I will say I'd rather spend the weekend with one or two people that I know very well and love than spend it alone or spend it with a huge group of people.

  • What is your relation with movement and your surroundings? For instance do you prefer a sport or outdoors event? If an outdoors event what is it? And why? If not what type of activities do you tend to engage?

I generally don't love exercise, especially going to the gym. If I had to do physical exercise I would like a game you can play or maybe running with music, but I generally don't feel great after exercise, it just doesn't do anything for me. I think hiking outside is okay, I do it quite a bit because it's good for you, but I really do like hiking when it's in a new, grand place like a mountain or maybe a big beautiful lake, though I would also prefer hiking that with someone else who I can have a conversation with. I definitely would not say hiking is my hobby though, my hobbies I would consider reading, writing, watching movies and shows, listening to music, so mostly solitary things you do while sitting ;)

  • How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?

I can be very curious or not based on the topic. If I had to take school as an example, I find subjects like Chemistry and Math mostly very boring because they have very little applicability to everyday life in my opinion (and in my life, at least), but I probably also think they're boring because I'm not good at them and struggle to understand it. I watch quite a bit of video essays which are mostly about politics, media, literature, different cultures and things like that. The ideas that I have are mostly on media and literature and also on how I think the world can be better? Hence my whole thing on the school system being bad and I am also very critical of capitalism, beauty standards, (some) religion(s), colonialism, that sort of thing. I generally care about issues in the world but also things like art and generally creative things like books and movies, things that make you feel something.

  • Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?

I don't naturally take up a lot of leadership roles because I feel like it's too much pressure but if for example, you need a leader and no one stands up I am likely to say, "okay, I'll do it," because I think I'm generally pretty capable of being in a leader position despite disliking it. I am good at keeping track of things and keeping order, but I think I am also good at hearing different sides of stories and creating a diplomatic solution for it. So my leadership style would be structured with a caring edge? LOL.

  • Do you prefer hands on activities or working with your hands in some form? Describe your activities.

I generally prefer activities that require more thinking than actually working with your hands (such as the reading, writing, watching shows, etc.) but I don't dislike working with my hands necessarily. I have in the past picked up crochet (but don't do it anymore) and I (kind of? sort of?) like putting a together a closet or something like that.

  • Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.

I considering myself to be pretty horrendous at arts and crafts so in that sense I am not artistic. However, as I've mentioned before, I do enjoy writing, which some people might view as artistic (depends on who you ask...). I do like art and going to museums. When going to a museum I prefer more realistic art, because it's just more aesthetic to look at, but when learning about art (for example art history in school), I think the modernists are by far the most interesting, because they basically completely changed the way that art is and how we look at it. I also think there's just this grandness about them that I really admire? And they had ideologies and ways they wanted the world to turn out which I think is great because progression is good! (IMO).

  • What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?

I see the past as something that I can learn from but also as something that is gone and over. I'm not the type of person to dwell on past mistakes for a long time, at least not anymore. I do like a little bit of nostalgia and looking back on things from time to time though. Whilst I want to live in the present I also have the tendency to think far, sometimes very, very far in the future and imagine my life, and I sadly think I will always stay that way where I think the future is going to be better than where I am now, so I think I struggle with that a bit. So the present is just kind of there for me LOL, I mostly am focused on the future.

  • How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?

If it's someone I care about or am close to, I will mostly help them because I genuinely want to, or because I feel like that is the right thing to do. A stupid example but say I need to load in the dishwasher or something, I will do it because I feel like it is the right thing to do as a person living in a house with more people, you should take some responsibility for it, right? If I don't know someone or don't really have anything to do with it, I most likely won't care for it? A bit mean maybe but yeah?

  • Do you need logical consistency in your life?

Kind of? This is a bit of a weird one. I am personally very very logical, maybe edging on unemotional, I can be incredibly rational to the point where some people might find it strange or robotic? However, if there is something logically inconsistent, like a school rule or something, and I feel it isn't in my power to change it or I don't care for it that much I have a tendency to just accept it without further thought. (Does that make sense?)

  • How important is efficiency and productivity to you?

Efficiency and productivity is important but not too the point of ignoring all other factors. I don't think the ends justify the means, so to say. I like to be efficient and productive but not to the point where you forget about or ignore mental health for example.

  • Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?

I don't think I do it a lot and if I do do it, it definitely isn't on purpose. I am a little bit of a control freak and I am also very nitpicky so I can be kind of controlling about details, but I generally believe people should live their life how they see fitting and try not to mingle with that too much.

  • What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?

As mentioned before its mostly reading, writing, watching movies and shows, listening to music, also watching video essays, that sort of stuff. I think all of them have a educational aspect, in the sense that you are learning new things, and you can be in a different place in a way, like when you're reading a book you plunge into a new world and life, and the same thing goes for movies, so I suppose that is what I like about it.

  • What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?

I don't think I have a specific learning style, I'm definitely much better at memorization. I think I can be very logical in day to day life but not as much with subjects like Chemistry, Math and Biology as mentioned before, I think it's because I find those concepts pretty difficult to grasp and I am a bit lazy so I don't really put in the effort to try to understand it either. I like using creativity in classes as well, but like I said earlier not with physical arts and crafts because I am horrible at them :)

  • How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?

I think this one can really go either way for me. For school projects I am very much a planner and make schedules, but with more casual things such as playing games or something like that, I tend to go more with what feels right, or my gut feeling.

  • What's important to you and why?

This is very broad... Currently I am very focused on getting my life onto a path where I am actually enjoying what I'm doing, as I'm sort of struggling with that right now. Also I want to make the world a better place, or at least I want it to be a better place and think about how we can achieve that as a society.

  • What are your aspirations?

I want to live an enjoyable life and... maybe make a few more friends LOL. My social life is pretty meager right now but I think I would like it to be a bit bigger. I feel like I've sort of always convinced myself that I'm a loner and am not made to have a lot of friends but I feel like that maybe was more like a shield to have an excuse to not make friends, since it's a bit intimidating and actually takes a bit of effort. And I suppose I would like to work a bit harder in university.

  • What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?

I don't really have a lot of fears. Sometimes I get moments where I am really scared of death, but I think that is very normal. I have an irrational fear of sea urchins... I get really bad second hand embarrassment so seeing other people go through embarrassing things makes me really uncomfortable... And I also don't like having a lot of attention on me, I just think that's awkward.

  • What do the "highs" in your life look like?
  • What do the "lows" in your life look like?

So I will answers these together. First of all, I think my life has been pretty level so far, I've haven't had any super highs or lows. If I had to pick these, I would say my high was when I was in my first year of high school, I was in a pretty big friend group and we would hang out a lot and do a lot of stuff together. I have fond memories of it but it was also at the same time quite overwhelming and like most big groups fizzled out pretty quickly. My low was when I did something I was very ashamed of and basically detached myself from everyone and was just overall really alone.

  • How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?

I definitely daydream a lot and sometimes I make entire alter egos for myself and I have to really remind myself to live in the present and focus on the actual life that I have, I can definitely get lost in my imagination a lot. I tend to daydream more in mundane moments, if I'm doing something special, or if I'm on vacation or something I definitely am more in the moment, but in day to day life I daydream a lot and don't pay attention to my surroundings.

  • Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?

Honestly I would probably start talking to myself... about whatever is going on in my brain at that moment. Maybe mundane things like what I did that day or how school is going, maybe more grand things like the things I have ideas about that I mentioned before.

  • How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?

I think I take a good amount of time to make a decision, I just do it very logically, weighing down the pros and the cons but I think my intuition and feelings that I can't explain also play a role too. I generally don't change my mind. I see it as, if I made the decision, I made it, after that it's over. Done is done.

  • How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?

I feel like I'm generally a little out of touch with my emotions, or when I feel strong emotions instead of processing it I more so just try to ignore it? or drown it out by occupying myself with other things. I will say that I'm less in touch with sadness (I cannot tell you the last time I cried) and more in touch with anger or angry emotions like frustration or annoyance. Like I said, I'm very logical so I think emotions play less of a role than my logic.

  • Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?

If I know the person, I will most likely be honest. If I don't know the person I tend to code switch a lot so then I definitely agree with them. I do it mostly because I think it's a hassle to try to make my point and I also don't want to offend the other person, I can be quite a people pleaser.

  • Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why would you?

I don't break rules often but I do think authority should be challenged. This has especially been on my mind recently, mostly in relation to capitalism, why we just accept these things as if there is no solution. But I don't break rules because I'm scared LOL. I don't want to upset people and again, I'm lazy and don't want to make a hassle.

  • What is the ideal life, in your opinion?

My ideal life is just one that I'm enjoying the most. I don't really believe any human has a "purpose" in life. I didn't ask to be born so I, in my opinion, don't have a specific duty to fill. So my ideal life is just having fun, doing things you love, and being happy with yourself and your life!

Well, that was a lot of text. I hope it wasn't too much and I appreciate any comment on what you think! Also excuse any errors in my writing, English isn't my first language and it's pretty late right now LOL.
