Follow up visit with Neurologist: starting Levodopa

I have had a couple MRI's and a DaT scan, nothing showed conclusively that my dopamine receptors are miss-firing, but the clinical tests are showing that I have early onset Parkinson's according to the Neurologist. He is starting me on Levodopa and says sometimes diagnosis can take a while and has scheduled a follow-up DaT scan. Has anyone else had a DaT scan do-over this close together, and is it remotely possible there would already be a notable change this soon? I think I know the answer already, just looking to hear of anyone that is on this journey. I am 58M here, tremor and clumsy in my right hand and right leg.

Any idea on how soon Levodopa starts working? Apologies if this post is rambling.

Much needed rain!

Anyone else have your best night of sleep last night with the gentle pitter-patter of rain through the night? Absolutely love the rain we are getting this week!

Let's have some honest dialog here for a minute.

This post is not intended to stir up rage baiting - if you feel from the onset this is rage bait, then you have answered the question as to the context of what I am posting below.

Can this question be debated and answered without us as a community being nefarious in any way, shape or form. Is the white populous of Zimbabwe still somewhat in control in a subtle yet clearly obvious manner? I get the idea that whites that opted to stay in Zimbabwe regardless of how green the proverbial grass may be on the other side, have calculated the risk versus reward and opted to take on the daily hardships regardless, rather than moving overseas where life is actually harder than the lifestyle being practiced and enjoyed in Zimbabwe.

Visit a white-owned establishment, and you can hear it in the high-society chambers of chatter, amongst themselves, there is always a sense of superiority, while the "workers" run the business, serve food, clean up, do the gardening, walk the dogs etc. It appears that not much has really changed in some of these affluent circles, where you can tangibly feel the atmosphere of master/servant from back in the day. It's a travesty - maybe I'm wrong, but I see it all the time and it is deplorable. One must wonder why they have held out on staying and "putting up with crap" while they make money, enjoy the spoils of business, and fly under the radar in their dealings amongst themselves. If they were to pack up and go as many of their kin have done, they would soon be struck with reality in that you are not that special, you are just an average person, more than likely will not have servants at your beck and call, and will have to do all the "dirty work" themselves. I have known of quite a few white folk that packed up and left for the UK, Australia, USA etc. and soon discovered how good it was in Zimbabwe - only to come back and settle for second best with all the trimmings.

This mindset is unacceptable, and must be addressed, in such a manner that the playing field is leveled by and through respect and followed with decent outcomes that remove and truly abolish the stigma of "less than" equality - there is no room for such. Am I right?

Please note: this is not a dig or racial slur against whites, it is just an observation worthy of debate, without the intent to piss anyone off or instigate rage bating. If this offends, chances are there is a lack of honesty and open dialog.

EDIT: I hope this is not removed, it's a topic that most want to sweep under the rug.

Question on Radio Silence in Zimbabwe

I know that there's a divide between dealing with people on the ground versus the same with people in the diaspora. My challenge is that it seems whenever there is money involved people default to Radio Silence as a defense blaming the network, or transport, or logistics or a million other things that hinder them from responding - my question to the community is, if you are working on a project in Zimbabwe have you experienced radio silence that has hampered your completion of a project on the ground?

A new colonial name in the making

Can I just say that this is a grab for one of our last resources once again, controlled by foreigners = CHINA. Let's follow this money trail and see where it goes...I'm not buying this project as being truly legitimate by way of benefiting OUR people. It's another colonial master in the making as they continue to take everything over, and use cheap day labor to do so. We must call a spade a spade...something about the scope of these enterprises is questionable in as much as who they truly benefit. When the project is finished 600-700 locals will be employed, but at what rate and how will these positions elevate the local employees?

My blog: nearly 2 decades later

I've been blogging for almost 2 decades, and have changed platforms from blogger to hosted wordpress, almost transferred again to substack but held off on making the switch. I share life experiences, as a Christian, and cover topics that are personal as well as small business related. The challenge I have is gaining traction and traffic as well as any responses to anything that I post. My question to the blogging community is - blogging alive or dead?

I'd also love feedback on my blog: Jubber Journal - welcome to Candid Life Discussions

Came across this and it encouraged me, hope it helps someone today

I have been dealing with what feels like perpetual hardship in various forms. Today I was reading through Matthew 5:45 where Jesus was giving the sermon on the mount. He stated that "He makes the sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust".

It got me thinking that even as a Christian, the hardships in life will impact me as much as anyone else, and that maybe what I am dealing with can be viewed or interpreted as the proverbial rain that falls on everyone regardless. It's what we do in those times of trials and difficulties that determines outcomes.

If you're going through a storm...I hope this encourages you by way of letting you know that you are not alone, and that "this too shall pass".

If there were stands for sale on Airport Rd. would they sell?

Good Monday everyone! I have a general question which I'm hoping can get some enlightenment. If you were going to invest in property, and discovered that there are stands for sale on the Airport Rd just a couple km's from the Airport, would you be interested in purchasing and developing or is there too much red tape involved? EDIT: In Harare...of course!

What a weather week!

We get to live work and play in a beautiful setting. don't we! From sunshine to rain and a snow storm, to 70's today all in one week - not a lot of States can boast of the varying weather patterns - love it, but feel for our plants trying to bud and bloom. It also looks like some trees have been badly hit by the frost...hope they bounce back - or are they gone?

Happy Friday & Awesome Weekend

Hey Zimbos, I was just thinking to myself today - life throws all of us Zimbabweans a curve ball almost daily! If you've had a tough week, getting to work, finding a job, paying a bill, putting food on the table - here's wishing y'all a happy Friday and awesome weekend! It's been a long week, with many ups and downs - let's take a minute this weekend to chill and reflect and breath calmly. The sun will rise tomorrow! At least the weather is on our side, and it's something we don't have to fight in home soil! You are ALL awesome!

I know that times are hard and friends are few...but: I find it ironic that people are very quick to blame shift when they themselves are guilty of the very same thing. I had a friend that I loaned money a while back. They haven't bothered paying back, but continue to spend like there's no tomorrow. They had the audacity to say I'm flakey...while living their own fake life of delusion**....shouldn't throw stones!** Anyone resonate with such behavior?

Have you ever looked in your account here on Reddit to see how much gold you've earned? It took me a month to earn 15 points of gold. Wish we could cash it in somewhere locally to help with our cost of living in Zimbabwe lol!

I'm going for the DaTscan this coming week. Have not been officially diagnosed but the visit with Neurologist and the physical tests are indicative of Parkinson's ~ I am 58 years old. Anyone know how long it takes to get the results?

Anyone following along this season using Apple TV to watch F1 live? Bummer that ESPN lost the bid to screen F1 - the process to view through Apple TV is a chore. Anyone able to figure out how to get the audio in car to work on PC? I can only get the in car visual without audio. Ugh.

I remember when I was an Apprentice in the 80's, at work we had a chimbadzo club. It actually worked out awesome, and came in very handy when it was your turn to get the funds. We were paid weekly (very weakly!!) and we would hand over contributions and then vote on needs and dish the cash out. There were a few times when the "chairman" role had to be changed to avoid bloodshed for miss-use of funds (LOL!!) but in general it was a practice that was widely used in factory settings amongst those of us that were paid weekly in my trade, first year apprentice wage was $36.00 each week!!

I once was able to buy a dining room set, another time I was able to put a deposit on a motorbike. Something about those days brings back mega nostalgia. Anyone else concur?

About 2 years ago I signed up for Ting in our area. There was a small $9 fee to be an early adopter...it's been 2 years, and a recent check on my address using the Ting website shows "We don’t have internet plans in your area" I get the feeling this is a scam, and wonder how many $9 deposits Ting has taken and what they are actually doing with that "deposit", and how will it eventually benefit clients? Sounds to me like a bit of an American Greed episode in the making as there's never any updates or status changes to our area...
