So, if even the Great Hollow (wood) is a distant relative of the ancient stone arch-trees, then wood in the Dark Souls universe could be a byproduct of burned arch-trees and might also possess great magical properties.

I was actually coming to the conclusion that the ancient dragons used dark spells and soul sorceries before the Age of Fire, this is a big theory that I'm kind of thinking about for several days

Edit: I made a mistake and miswrote Gwyn's Age as the Age of Fire, i.e., the coming of the First Flame, which is incorrect. The Everlasting Dragons were essentially everlasting statues and could not have moved without the Light that gave life to them. Life and souls came after the coming of the first flame that sparked the Dragons with souls which made them mortal and the concept of life and death applicable to them
