PC won't boot after PSU upgrade (Yellow RAM LED then Red CPU LED). Need help diagnosing!

Hey everyone,

I recently swapped my PSU (Asus ROG Loki 850W) for a new Asus ROG Loki 1000W.
Now, the PC won't boot, and it's going through a weird post-LED sequence: the yellow light comes on first (RAM initialization) and stays there for about half a minute, but then it switches to a solid red light (CPU error).
I put the old 850W PSU back in, but the problem persists.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Cleared CMOS.
  • Re-flashed the BIOS.
  • Tried booting with only one RAM stick (in the slot furthest from the CPU).
  • Disconnected everything from the motherboard except for the essential power cables.
  • Used a multimeter to check the VRM phase chokes and SMD capacitors for continuity - no short circuits found.

Specs & Details:

  • Mobo: Asus ROG Strix B650E-I
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 9850X3D
  • Cables: I strictly used the cables that came with each respective PSU (new cables with the new PSU, old cables with the old PSU). No mixing.

Unfortunately, I don't have any spare parts lying around to test the components one by one. :(

What do you think could have happened here, and which component do you think bit the dust?
Any advice is appreciated!

Today I've received my Super Crystal 50ppd.
First of all I've checked the connector to connect an optical engine and lighthouses faceplate.
Is it old one or new one?

Hi, I'm thinking about upgrading my VR setup, and here's a question that's been on my mind.

Right now I have an HTC Vive Pro, 1440x1600 per eye; 90 FPS. Of course, I use supersampling in apps to get a decent picture. For example, in Il-2 Sturmovik, I set rendering at 2560x2844.
That’s the maximum I can handle on my hardware
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 4080
RAM: 64GB, DDR5 6000MT/s CL-30

Most of the time, I have plenty of headroom in terms of frame generation time, but in demanding scenes, I hit the limits of either the CPU or the GPU. So I can’t increase the rendering resolution any further.

I don’t remember exactly right now, but the numbers in Elite Dangerous are roughly the same, and I can’t say I’m satisfied with the image quality, I’d like to improve it further, but then I wouldn’t be able to hit 90 fps in demanding scenes.
I haven’t tried it yet, but I suspect things will be even worse with DSC and MSFS.

And here’s the question. I’m looking at the Pimax Crystal Super Micro-OLED, which has a resolution of 3840x3552 per eye. What kind of hardware do I need to play flight and space simulators on this VR headset?

Are there any owners of VR HMDs with 4K per eye resolution here? Please, share your gaming experience. What hardware do you have, and how do you achieve stable performance in games?
